Current Resident: I grew up in Irving, Texas. I moved to Hooks in 1998 and have lived here for over 20 years. Hooks has a little over 2,000 residents. The Hooks volunteer fire department hosts an annual community hot dog supper so residents can meet their new first responders. There is a citywide curfew for young people of 10:00 pm during the week and midnight on the weekends. I never had to worry about my children walking around town because the local police officers know everybody. A Hooks police officer teaches classes at the high school and responds to any emergencies that affect any of the Hooks ISD schools. Hooks is a great place to raise children.... Read 16 reviews

Former Resident: Texarkana, also known as Twin City, lies between the NE corner of Texas (Texarkana, TX) and the SW corner of Arkansas (Texarkana, AR). While Texarkana is a relaxed town, increased construction and developments have brought more businesses to the area, which increases the availability of opportunities and employment within the city. For parents, there are a handful of independent school districts (ISD) to choose from. In Texas, you have Liberty-Eylau ISD, Texarkana ISD, and Pleasant Grove ISD. Niche User: Maud, Texas is a small town where everyone knows each other. The people are loving and friendly, they greet you as if you were never a stranger. Current Resident: Several things are incredible about this town. First, the generosity that everyone in the community provides for people in need, academics, and extracurriculars. A year ago, there was a fire in an apartment building, no one lost their life, but many people lost their homes. So people in the community started a fundraiser for the people that were affected. There are multiple boosters for the extracurriculars in the school. Second, the employment opportunities. The employment is very vast mechanics, builders, to cooks. Third, diversity and inclusivity.
