Current Resident: Lots of History. Community and village feel. Love. Hometown of Cheerwine, Food Lion, and Stanback. National Historic neighborhoods. Halfway to beach and mountains of NC. In heartland of the Piedmont. Halfway between two NC metros: Charlotte and Greensboro/Winston-Salem areas. Too many gangs and transients as of late. All types of weather here in NC, we get it all from hurricanes, tropical storms, thunderstorms, ice storms, snow storms, wind storms, 110 degree heat and humidity, to negative degrees in winter. Snow thunder. Gravity hill is a fun cool place to go, story goes that woman found her child and lifted the car off of it. If you park your car on seemingly flat road and put baby powder on trunk, your car will move up hill and have hand prints on it. Civil War history there was an prison here and a national cemetery. Revolutionary war history. Before that Catawba Indian land some Cherokee and Navajo. Oldest Lutheran church in NC, is here rowan county named Organ Lutheran Church.
