Current Resident: I have lived in Gibson/South Valley Stream for 27 years and am originally from Queens. It is a nice, quiet area. I don’t know who is “stuck up” as it’s a middle class community $ wise. The homes are expensive as is typical on Long Island. My kids cannot afford to move out. The Village is trying to encourage affordable housing but developers are greedy and don’t charge reasonable rents. It has been a diverse community for some time and the majority of us are respectful. Schools are good. Its a good place to live. We have same issues like the rest of the Island and creative positive newcomers should help! Current Resident: For awhile I rented out my home in Bay Shore and decided in 2017 to live in the home. I think the town has improved a lot. A pro is definitely the diversity. There are people from all walks of life and of many ethnicities. The Main Street area has restaurants, bars, coffee shops. The Fire Island Ferry is very close by. To me there is almost a NYC feel lately with the lofts built. There are also a lot of families and the YMCA! The Bay Shore Marina which when I first moved to L.I a long time ago was in need of serious renovation. It’s been beautifully renovated and there is a restaurant there. Current Resident: I’ve lived in Elmont now, for 2 1/2 years and I’m glad, we moved here. This is is a very friendly town. Neighbors are supper friendly and support one another. Very quiet, sometimes too quiet. There’s so much diversity and i love it! This place is a melting pot. Most people own their homes and takes pride in that. There are a variety of places to eat and shop. Public transportation can be better; the NICE buses are not the most reliable. But if you drive, there’s no issue. There’s currently, the hockey stadium being built, with a new hotel and outlets and restaurants. The good thing is living in Elmont puts you in close proximity to NYC, about a 20 minutes ride via LI railroad. Current Resident: The houses and neighborhood is pretty good. Most keep their lawn neat, and fairly quiet. There is an area on Nassau Rd when come off the Southern State Pkwy that is disappointing. It has some nice places to grab some food but it also has a store that has late hours that allow people to congregate in front for to many hours. The high school offers a variety of classes. Current Resident: Throughout Long Island it is not rare to come across neighborhoods that have different races. What is refreshing about Baldwin is the diversity. Whether it is on your block, around the corner, or Baldwin district schools you are bound to come across people of different backgrounds who can teach you something. The people in Baldwin are also very kind and inspire people to get out of the house. Another reason I am glad to announce that I am from Baldwin is because the people always reach out into the neighborhood to help each other out. Whether it is community service and volunteering, donating to a clothing drive, or simply showing up for the community you will always find our people. Current Resident: It is a quaint little quiet town with a few shops, public spaces, a community center and a Metro North train station. Current Resident: Safety is not an issue here! Also it is very peaceful to leave here. There are many schools here in Amityville including Copiague and Amityville. These schools are very diverse and filled with many clubs and activities for many students to enjoy. The communities are very small but safe. Many neighbors are interactive with each other. There are many spots like shopping malls, restraurants, plazas, and other places to hang out with friends. There is also a lot of diversity for students and to help find jobs opportunities.
