Current Resident: I love and hate Jersey City, it is my childhood home, and i love to live here. It is a beautiful city itself, with tremendous amounts of transportation such as lightrail, path train, and buses, not to mention the ferry’s. There are many things to do such as restaurants, ice creams places or deserts of different kinds, public place roller skating which is is also ice skating in the winter, the countless pools, along with the friendly grove street that has walkable streets ( which provides traffic ) with 100s of restaurants and stores. Downsides are the tremendous amounts of traffic caused by the holland tunnel and the random construction that occurs, and the slow shift of gentrification. Former Resident: I spent my childhood in Englewood up to the age of 11. I went to public schools and had a fair experience. My next school was out of the country and used the British education system which I found extremely challenging after being on honor roll the year before at an elementary school in Englewood. From that experience, I deduce that the programs at the public schools I attended could have been more challenging. The extra-curriculares were enjoyable. I did girls scouts and cheerleading. In terms of my neighborhood, I found my neighbors to be friendly. I always felt safe in the neighborhood. The malls, shopping centers, stores and entertainment nearby were satisfying for me. Current Resident: I love living in North Brunswick, as someone who has been a resident here since 2006. I've had a positive experience at their public schools, and am proud to graduate from NBTHS this year! North Brunswick Township public schools have a very diverse student body, and students of all backgrounds and identities are celebrated. It's a great place to be amongst kind, open-minded people. There are also many places to shop and dine. The only criticism I have is there aren't a lot of places to hang out in North Brunswick. You have to get creative if you want to socialize.... Current Resident: I've been living in Hackensack since I've attending elementary here. The town is very well to live in. The area contains many restaurants and a good hospital. You're 35 minutes away from the EWR airport and close to the George Washington Bridge. The diversity is very great too! The job opportunities is very large. Current Resident: I like Avenel because of its diversity. I have attended both Woodbine Elementary School and Avenel Middle School and I would have to say that my classes were very diverse which allowed me to experience various different cultures and backgrounds. I liked the blending of people which helped me learned more about other nationalities and cultures. When I attended Colonia High School, unfortunately I did not get that same experience as their population did not feel as diverse as I was used to. Current Resident: Not many people know about Carteret, its a small town. Carteret is a very diverse community, a safe place for new families to build their homes. Current Resident: I like living in Rahway because I find it to be very diverse. I really like the High School because of the staff. The guidance counselors are very helpful, especially with college help and advice. I would consider myself to be a student that has a lot to juggle from being enrolled in rigorous AP courses to having to balance extracurriculars and the pressure of being Class President. However, Rahway itself offers many activities and locations such as the Melaos coffee shop downtown to wind down in a calming environment. Current Resident: I lived in Roselle Park for over 4 yrs now and my experience so far has been great. Most of my neighbors are friendly. I say mostly because my next door neighbor appeared to be disappointed that a black family moved next door to them but I think once they realized I up kept my property they became a little more friendly. It’s a small town so you mostly run in to some one you know in the park, store or on school property while waiting for your little ones. The houses in the neighborhood for the most part looks decent but some of the 2 family houses are starting to look like Newark. I love the diversity in this town. It appears though Roselle Park is experiencing “white flight”. The town has good programs for the children. The schools are good. There has been an uptick in theft but overall I feel safe here. Transportation is excellent because it’s close to bus, train, airport and major highways. Needs more restaurants though and should reopen the movie theatre on Westfield Ave.... Read 52 reviews

Current Resident: Overall, very good area. The main problem with Somerset is the same as with every high population density area in NJ- sky high property taxes! Unfortunately, the population of Somerset is only increasing so the property taxes are only going to continue increasing. The only other 'complaint' that I have with the area is a minor annoyance more than anything. I'm a movie buff, and the main movie theatre in the area is Regal on Rt 1. At any given time, the majority of movies shown at this theatre are Bollywood films. A non-Bollywood film has to be a mega-blockbuster in order to make it on the list of showings. There have been critically acclaimed movies that I haven't been able to see because Regal isn't showing them anywhere on their 16 screens.... Read 62 reviews

Current Resident: I have been a resident of Union, New Jersey ever since I was an infant. The environment here is so uplifting and positive. Union Center is the focal point of the town which features numerous shops and restaurants. This area is the perfect place to spend your weekend because there are several activities you can experience. For instance, since Union is incredibly diverse, the restaurants range from all types of foods you could think to taste. Additionally, you can go thrift shopping, go to the salon, or even see a movie at the theater! There is also a small playground with a peaceful library that one could visit if looking for some quiet time. Niche User: I love the area that I live in. Voorhees is a generally safe town with no big crimes going on. It is a suburban area which is an excellent environment for my sister and I to grow up in because it is enough for us be familiar with people without it being extremely crowded or empty. There is a decent amount of activity going on in the area, and the schools know how to celebrate individual students. I would love to live in this area again, and I actually was hoping to find another area like this for future housing. I am not sure how this area is compared to the rest country, but I know that is pretty well off compared to other towns in New Jersey. The only problem I have with this area is the changes that the high school is going through. They are changing years of organized schedules and classing in order to follow the lead of another high school, but every teacher and student knows that the students will not be able to handle this change next year.... Current Resident: I moved to Bayonne after living in Jersey City for 8 years and I love it! I don’t have a car and get around fine with walking and taking the light rail. The light rail always comes on time, takes 15 min to JC. Or there’s the Bayonne Flyer light rail that takes just 11 minutes to JC during commuter hours. So many parks and water front access. There are two marinas and several kayak launches if you love getting out on the water. A ferry will be opening soon to NYC! Walk across the Bayonne bridge to Staten Island for amazing views. Current Resident: I have lived in Lodi for the past 7 years. I have never felt unsafe in here even as a young woman walking home alone from a bus stop after dusk. I have never encountered any vandalism, violence, robberies, or burglaries. There are many good public schools nearby. The commute to the City takes about 20-35min by car depending on the traffic. Many stores, gyms, and pharmacies available within a walking distance from every house in Lodi. Politically the area seems mostly conservative. I wish that the Lodi municipality invested some money improving the park and playground for families living in the Lodi area. And possibly building a dog park for people with dogs.
