Waltham
#11 Most Diverse Suburbs in Boston Area
Current Resident: Waltham is a friendly city with many amenities including ethnic restaurants, drama/music programs, and a good library with free workshops all year. There's also a senior center w/many daily activities. As a senior who walks all over the South Side AM & PM I feel that it's very safe! (After 9 PM I do walk on the more-traveled streets, that have new streetlights). There are 2 colleges here, 2 Museums, a train/bus depot, and the Charles River. The local history has NOT "been forgotten"- just go to either Museum or the library programs. The one drawback is the increasingly high prices of real estate . Moody St. has a mostly "fun and funky" type of vibe... It's in a great location with parks and access to Cambridge/Boston as well as commuter rails to Concord and Worcester. Overall, this town can be an excellent place to live if you're looking for varied dining, a central location, greenery, access to downtown, decent schools, many cultural events, and friendly people.
