Current Resident: We've lived in a lot of places and Rio Rancho has been our favorite. We've had great experiences with the school (our kids go to MLK). We've noticed that the police have a presence here in the community which makes it feel much safer than ABQ. Our neighbors are very friendly and welcoming, as well as the community at school. Our kids have been involved in sports and music since we've moved here and they love everything about it. We have tons of parks in a two mile radius, including a dog park. That's another thing, everyone seems to have a dog! I love that. We've also taken advantage of the aquatic center and the library. Those are some great amenities. There seems to be a ton of community pools all over the city. There has been a lot of roadwork and beautification projects. I really believe that they have the resident's best interest at heart.... Current Resident: The area is very scenic! It is right next to the river so there is a lot of vegitation and in the fall the leaves change color and create a beautiful array of colors that reflect off of the water. Current Resident: Bosque farms is a beautiful small community 23 miles south of Albuquerque. Bosque farms has it's own police department, and village offices. Some weakness's of Bosque farms are, police officers need to monitor hwy 47 and more often, the library needs to be more accessible to everyone not just for children, librarian needs to be replaced she is very unpleasant and lacks professional development, counselors need to listen to their constituents from the village. Former Resident: I served a Mormon mission in Los Lunas. After completing my missionary work, I went back to Los Lunas and went to school to what is known now as the Central New Mexico Community College (T-V I). I really liked the feel of it being a small town that is close enough to the city if you want to go there because you miss the city atmosphere. Current Resident: Edgewood is considered "the country" or "the other side of the mountain" to people who live in Albuquerque. It is a relatively small town. In 2016 there were almost 4000 people who lived there. You will almost never see all of these people at once. They typically stay to themselves. There are two grocery stores and a few places to eat. I would say that it is enough to get by. There are two real beauties to living in Edgewood. The first is the actual natural beauty all around. There are some trees, beautiful mountains, and awe inspiring sunsets. The second is its proximity to Albuquerque. You can live in a small town but be in a big city in 20-30 minutes. People may complain about that commute, but it is not a lot of traffic. Compared to living on the westside of Albuquerque and commuting into the heart of the city, the drive from Edgewood is a piece of cake.... Read 28 reviews

Current Resident: I have lived in Belen, NM most of my life, excluding a handful of years, and have had mostly good experiences. However, there are cons about Belen daily living such as the city of Belen never seems to economically grow, meaning trending food businesses have not proceeded in our small city. The school system isn't the best, I wish my education was more important when I was younger and I wish for a better grade school program for children and adolescents. Some pros are the people, for the most part. With a small city, like Belen, it has a lot of residential support towards local businesses and each other which positively affects the city, as a whole. Current Resident: I've lived in the South Valley all my life. I've experienced the best and worst, just like any other neighborhood. Nevertheless, the South Valley is home. What makes the South Valley feel like home, is the close and family-oriented community. Family owned business and programs that unit the Valley community. A couple of things I would like to change of the South Valley consist of upgrading buildings, roads, and community spaces that create safe and updated neighborhoods for the community, which in return will change the negative stigma of the Valley and show its true potential.... Current Resident: Placitas is barely a town. For what it is, as small as it is, it offers a lot. A great restaurant, decent grocery store, art gallery, above average cafe. It is between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, without the crime of the first or the snobbery of the second. Warm and welcoming neighbors. Extremely good value in housing. Gorgeous views. It is important that it is just off a major artery so getting anywhere is easy. In these times, also notable that the road into town is not on the way to somewhere else, so no traffic.
