Current Resident: Mill Creek, Washington is a family-friendly, suburban, that is community constantly growing. As someone who has lived in the area for well over 10 years, I believe I'm familiar with the area. There are plenty of food joints relatively close, a business area with start-ups and bigger names such as T-mobile, Boeing, Philips, etc. You'll see a diverse group of people young and old and of different ethnicity. There are multiple schools to choose from elementary to high school that are well known through the community--especially the high schools for their athletics and education opportunities. Former Resident: Coming from the NYC metro area, I lived in Columbia City for approximately a year and had very little safety concerns besides my vehicle parked on the street. In comparison, Seattle is much safer than NYC. Columbia City is very convenient for transport as well as close to parks. During the day it is as safe as can be and at night I rarely have seen anyone out and about, but there has been a time or two after dark where I would consider a possible issue. Current Resident: What I like most about SeaTac is its diversity and affordability. Compared to the other suburbs around Seattle, you would typically need to spend much more, or live much farther to get this location and price. Being close to the airport is convenient, and there are all kinds of people living there. I find people in SeaTac are pretty nice and easygoing compared to the city proper, and with the proximity to the Westfield mall adds some decent shopping to the mix. The only thing missing is more kinds of work as most of the nearby jobs are airport or service industry related. Current Resident: It's one of the cheaper places to live in the Seattle area, and due to having three transit centers of Tukwila Park & Ride, Tukwila Light Rail Station, and Southcenter, there is a lot of public transit options to get just about anywhere in south King County or up to Seattle. It has a nice feel with the housing being somewhat secluded and feeling like not in a super urban area, but you walk a few blocks and you're at southcenter or Interurban ave. The new library is great and there's a lot of development happening right now which has it's pros and cons. It's historically one of the most diverse places in the country. It also has been seen as a very unsafe place. It's not anywhere near as bad as the stats make it sound due to the per capita stats being inflated by Tukwila not having many people live there but a lot of people working.... Read 103 reviews

Current Resident: It’s Seattle’s 2nd biggest suburb and, as such, incredibly diverse in all aspects of the word. You’ll find five alphabets on buildings within 2 blocks and everything from very modest 1970/80s apartments and ranch homes to pristine, tree lined cul-de-sacs of upper middle class homes catering to professionals who commute into downtown Seattle/Bellevue (at least when we’re not WFH; FYI, I fall in this category). Niche User: Since June, 2015, I have shared a 1 bedroom apartment with friends, I decided to move out in November 2015. Thus, I have found out that my decision was right at all because my life with the roommates was not as smooth and easily getting along with as well. We usually had conflict about organizing the room, cooking and cleaning schedule. Also, my personality was likely unappropriate to my roommates so that they felt I was terrible. Nevertheless, moving to Kent was so great to me even though going to school was more difficult since I'm Seattle Central College's student. But, living in an area which is improving as well with many stores are around, schools and medical care locate conveniently is a perfect condition for me. Moreover, moving to Kent gives me a chance to travel to the cities around easier. For instance, on the last Sunday, my boyfriend has came and picked me up to drive to Leavenworth in almost 2 hour; however, if I was in Seattle, we would have been there for three hours. Furthermore, the environment and the residental area around are very quiet and safe. It is an important factor for me to focus on my study. In the past, I have not been able to concentrate on studying since pressure from friends, from roommates forced me to think of them too much. Therefore, I wasted my time and dropped my GPA down so quickly. Current Resident: South Park may now be the only neighborhood in Seattle that has not faced gentrification. I have called this area home for the past 16 years, and it truly owns my heart. South Park faces environmental injustice and occasional violence, but the community is unlike any other. Current Resident: Lakewood Washington is a nice place to live and go to school. Lakewood is close to freeway access to nearby cities and communities outside of itself. There are 3 high schools in Lakewood Washington. Lakewood Towne center is at the heart of the community with many shopping needs and options, as well as central access to public transportation. There are many work opportunities available to all working aged people of all skill levels and experience. Pierce Community College boarders Lakewood and the town of Steilacoom. It is an important part of our community, opening doors to many people and households through outstanding programs and studies. Cloverpark Technical College is also at the heart of Lakewood, providing students of all ages and backgrounds access to quality education and skilled trade professions. Current Resident: I have never felt unsafe walking around Renton. It is a nice and quiet town which is very relaxing when coming from Seattle. The only issue I have with Renton is the night scene. I am in my mid 20's and just about everything closes around 9pm. I get off work at 10pm (in Seattle) and I'm unable to do anything after work since nearly everything is closed. That being said, the small downtown is growing, there are more and more fun businesses coming to Renton every year which makes me excited! Current Resident: We bought our house on the Eastside 7 years ago and it has been a decent neighborhood and I really enjoy our neighbors. Most recently roads have been fixed, they created a bike ride area that seems to be a big hit, and the police have been good at patrolling the area. Within the last year the gun activity has increased significantly and that makes me uneasy about the safety of my family. However, I feel the community has come together to help report any suspicious activity and make the police aware of the situation. Recently there was a Tacoma Police Officer killed in the line of duty and the community came together to support the men and women in blue as well as the family of the fallen Officer. Current Resident: I LOVE Burien. It is not the rustle and bustle of the city, but it close to everything you could need. Just a short drive to downtown or go south towards Federal Way/Tacoma. The only thing is crime has gotten a little worse since the lockdown of Covid, but it's not nearly as bad as White Center, so just find the right neighborhood and you're set. Plenty of places to bike to in regards to food. Some cute and fun restaurants downtown, we like to frequent Tin Theater, where they show older movies in a small theater, but walkout and you're in a little pub with 2 bars and outdoor seating! Overall, I've lived here over 5 years now and I think if I were to move, it would be for a job. Not to mention, the airport and a hospital is a short 5 min away! Most the houses are double paned windows and we hardly even notice it anymore.
