Former Resident: I made the most of my life growing up in Hardin, which bordered the Crow Indian Reservation. My whole life I was around more real-life situation than your average teenager would believe happen. The reservation I lived on was beautiful, and don't get me wrong, it was my home, but it was sad. Poverty struck, and at times depressing. I spent most of my teen years planning on how I was going to get as far away as possible, but not from the people. Being the minority where I grew up, I couldn't have asked for better people to surround me, I was always treated well and always loved by others and their family. Nearby Resident: I go to school in Polson. I have attended both the high school and the middle school. The school system is not a great place to be unless you are highly independent. There is little to do in the town, and almost everything is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday- so more than half of the week. The people you meet will either be very friendly or awful. There are a few good places to eat, but they are often closed. If you're looking for a night out, your only options are the two or three bars fill with drunk old men. There are a few parks, but you have to know which one is right for what you're looking for at the time. Riverside is overcrowded in the summer, Sacajawea is good but small with little beach and very shady, City Docks is always covered in goose droppings, and botcher is right next to the highway,... Current Resident: My wife and I love living in Billings! It's one of the few cities in Montana where "regular" people may still be able to afford a home, which we were able to do. We have quite a selection of stores and restaurants close to our neighborhood, and even more throughout the city. There's more to do here than in most cities in MT, though if you're coming from a big city, you'll probably miss some amenities. I came from a very small town in MT, so Billings is quite a change for me. There are ample outdoor recreation opportunities in town and even more close to town. We have always felt safe in our neighborhood and in most places around town. Like most cities in America, Billings does have drugs and crime. Unfortunately, that's really not something you can get away from even in Montana. Again though, if you're coming from a big city, Billings is pretty tame. Current Resident: Great Falls is a great place to live. It is very family friendly, has many outdoor activities, and is only hours away from 2 different national parks. I recommend living here if you love snow/snow sports during the winter months and hiking/camping during the summer months. Another positive is that it is a military town. This means there are a lot of people here from around the country/world which makes it an awesome place to live because there are many different cultures coming together in the community.... Current Resident: I moved to Sidney in 2010 from Southern California. The environment was a big change from sunny California. My experiences have been good ones. I started working in Food Services at the Sidney Health Center hospital as a prep for the salad bar and room service for inpatients. I was a certified phlebotomist at the time, but there were no openings in the laboratory at the time. The majority of coworkers and the public have been extremely nice. The atmosphere in Sidney prides itself in being friendly and welcoming. I have experienced those attributes from the community. Sidney is a close knit town and the schools are small enough that every teacher knows the family of their students. I enjoy the holidays here. Former Resident: Lockwood is just a suburb of Billings but it is the one in which I grew up. I may be biased but I'm the type of person you want to hear from when looking at a neighborhood. Lockwood was my stomping ground. I knew where all my friends houses were and how to get to each safely. Lockwood Elementary and Middle school prepared me for my future education by the enthusiasm of the teachers I had. I have currently moved away from Lockwood for college but my family still lives there. The look of Lockwood has changed for the better over the years. New school additions, a new fire station, and new housing have expanded Lockwood into a great place to live. Lockwood square is a fun hangout since you will eventually know everyone who works there. Current Resident: Helena is a quiet, happy town with beautiful summers and autumns, crisp winters, and ever-changing springs. Current Resident: I grew up here. I wouldn't have traded it. The people are very warm and freindly. The schools are good. Our sports teams always do well for such a small town. Current Resident: One of a kind mining city. The classic buildings here the best are attribute of the place. Best examples in the state of 1870's-1950's archtecture. The oldest old-timers are great too and easy to get along with, but those younger than about 80 are seriously lacking in appreciation. The leadership at the city has a nasty habit of awarding corrupt demolition contracts to members of their family and senselessly ripping down iconic 1880's buildings in the wee hours of the morning. Current Resident: I have lived in Kalispell for a total of 15 years now, and boy have we grown! Kalispell is beautiful and has a lot to offer but is not set up for all of the tourism we are getting. They are, however, constantly changing the roads to provide better commutes. Kalispell is very family friendly and great place for being outdoors. No matter what, there's always a place to get away. It's only a short drive to many lakes, walking/biking trails and Glacier National Park. Former Resident: Evergreen is a county town connected to the city of Kalispell, MT. Evergreen is a large enough area in itself to satisfy recreation, shopping, services and housing needs, while not feeling too much "in the city." There are many neighborhoods that still have an older, charming feel. But also, neighborhoods with new and large houses springing up. Evergreen residents can still find a house with well-water for their garden and paved quiet streets for their children to ride bikes. Works Here: I have maintained a job in Glasgow at the local grocery store. This has given me the opportunity to see more of Glasgow than I originally would have. Many of the people I have interacted with are friendly and welcoming. Their is a never ending need for jobs in many of the local establishments, making it a great place for those seeking work. What I would like to see change is the prices for many of the necessary everyday products such as groceries.
