Current Resident: Being in the Bayview has been definitely an eye opening moment for me. This area of San Francisco has not always been discussed in a positive light, but after thriving in the district for already a year, I am proud to say that the Bayview has many pros. This area has many public schools, a good commute system, quality houses to rent, and it is quite diverse. Niche User: Living in this area I am blessed to be surrounded by so many different cultures and growing up in a place that is so strange and diverse, to be able to see the different neighborhoods and be faced with affluent and working class communities. It is interesting to see the different religious groups, the private and public schools, small mom and pop grocery stores compared to retail stores and seeing the different grassroots organizations and non profit organizations made available to the youth. This place is fruitful for someone who wants to understand how communities of color thrive in America. It is also a place to see the segregation that still takes place on a subtle level. Current Resident: I was born and raised in San Francisco so I have still how impacted we are from outside source. Sf became very congested about 2/3 years ago and I noitcw with the tech boom it has driven our rent extremely high. Happily for the Western Addition it’s not crowded although it’s real estate had an massive inflation. The area is still nice and has became very diverse. It’s an welcoming area for all people! Current Resident: The Excelsior hales from a history of farmlands that supplied the city for generations. Now this gem of a neighborhood is being discovered all over again. A mix of professionals, multiple generation native San Franciscans, families, artists, and people who built this city with their bare hands. This quiet enclave boasts million dollar views tucked into the hillside. From the bustling Latinx markets on Mission to the well kept trails in John McClaren park (larger than Golden Gate Park and honors its famous native Jerry Garcia with a fantastic amphitheater). It is a wonderful place to raise a family in the roomy houses or just get away from it all. There is easy access to commuting all over the city with its access to 280, BART, and ample bus routes. People are friendly! As with any big city, some blocks are better than others and caution should be used around the grittier parts along Mission. Current Resident: Sunny neighborhood with great views. McLaren Park is a gem. Neighbors are kind and friendly. The Greenway is super nice and brings you to one of the cutest coffee/gift shops in town, Mission Blue. On Leland Ave, you can also find delicious food and travel from Asia to South America and more. 10-15 minutes drive to many great spots in the City. Really underrated neighborhood. Current Resident: Moved here 2 months ago and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy this neighborhood. A few highlights: 1. Neighbors: Very friendly, very welcoming, but not in your face. 2.I am in between Portola downtown where I can find a few great eating places: Dimsum, Banh Mi, Breakfast place, FDR Brewery, and a few others. And a few blocks to 3rd st., where there are a few places I can hangout at: Gratta Wine, All Goods Pizza, Radio Africa, Simply Delish, just to name a few that I frequent. There are always great collaborations among these businesses to throw events that feel like block parties with friendly peeps. For grocery, I go to Foods Co., which surprisingly has everything I need. 3. Transportation: A few blocks to Third St., where the T line runs to Downtown/FiDi. But it is also easy to get Uber or Lyft 4. Safe: I have been walking around the neighborhood even until 10pm, although never later than 10pm and feel safe enough. Current Resident: Beautiful Westwood Park has easy access to Ocean Ave. Which is up and coming. This is a real neighborhood with many families and wonderful neighbors. Very diverse. Our neighbors range from the young family across the street who are raising their children in the home the dad gets up in, to the Burmese neighbor, Argentinian family across the street, the African American Judge on the circle and our Supervisor, Norman Yee. Sort of being in the burbs but with San Franciscans. Classic Craftsman designed houses with tree lined streets and huge driveways with plenty of parking. Easy freeway access. Current Resident: Ingleside is best described as semi-suburban living combined with the amenities of city living. The neighborhood is pretty diverse with everything in close range including transit, grocery stores, parks and the Ingleside Library branch. Current Resident: I really do like this neighborhood. While yes, there is a lot of trash on the streets. And yes, it does get very loud at nights, but that's just regular San Francisco. You won't be able to escape that anywhere in San Francisco. The Mission District has tons of great shops, food, people and history. You're basically in the heart of the LATINX community. And while I do dislike drunk teenagers quoting Mean Girls lines at 3:00 in the morning on a Thursday, I can get over that. Living in the city is just so interesting. We've also got many parks surrounding the district so you can take a breather, walk your dog, or just sit in the sun if you'd like. Current Resident: The Inner Sunset neighborhood is great family oriented neighborhood. There are two public schools. Golden Gate Park is very close by. The ocean and Ocean Beach is just a fifteen minute walk. There is a farmers market and multiple grocery stores. I especially appreciate all of the small businesses offering unique services and goods. In the Outer Sunset there is a co-op grocery store which has healthy food offerings. There is a public transportation line that runs from the beach to down town called Muni. It is a reliable service with some exceptions. Currently the city is making improvements to sidewalks and roads to create a more pedestrian and bike friendly environment. Last year new trees were planted along one of the main roads, Irving street. The Inner Sunset is a safe neighborhood. One will often see families walking along the street and kids hanging out at treat shops after school. It is the kind of neighborhood one feels comfortable walking at night in.... Read 11 reviews
