Former Resident: I lived in Garden City for the majority of my life (18 years). I'm currently in college but my family still resides there. The community is friendly and we have known our neighbors for a very long time (probably longer than I've been alive). The neighborhood is a little run down in some spots but recently people have begun to clean things up. What I worry about is safety of the streets that people have to walk along in order to get from their house to the major street which is Michigan Rd to either go to the grocery store, drugstore or catch the bus. Current Resident: When I 1st moved in the apartment community there were so many improvements needed. Unfortunately, improvements don't always occur witbout a challenge & even resistance. I had to apply myself in seeking aid for our local community without being noticed due to to crime, drugs, and a scarce resources. I used several methods to change my environment because financially moving wasn't an option. I hated the fact that my 1st marriage, and 1st child had encountered this. It was devastating to say the least. However, my faith said you AREN'T defeated, trust your internal strength and things will positive change will occur in your environment. Many hidden friends have aided with methods toward our safety. Some may have encountered loved ones who passed away as they continued to Pray for me. I am grateful & would Love to win this to give some back to my friends for putting up with me in an effort to change my community.... Read 3 reviews

My high school was only up the street and the nearest gas station was only two minutes away. It helped create me into the person that I am today.
