Current Resident: West Ridge is a very calm and quiet place to live in. Especially if you don't want to live in too much of a city vibe. Also, an amazing place to have any young family members or pets even to grow up in. Nearby parks, public schools, beaches, and community centers. I lived there during my graduate school experience, and I could not have found a cuter and more relaxing area in a metropolitan city. Current Resident: Bridgeport Is an up and coming town. A lot of new rebuilds. Its a town full of art! Home of the Bridgeport art Center, and the White Sox! Lots of great Asian restaurants since we are near China town, and quite the diverse community with all races leaving on one block! It is also a town full of retired police force and is known for it's history with racism and horrific acts of violence, but that seems to have changed quite a bit with a new generation having populated this area!... Current Resident: I just moved from the suburbs of Detroit to Galewood, Chicago IL within the past year. I come from a slow paced MI community that is very “white picket fence” so keep that in mind for the rest of my review, as city life is new to me. I currently live in the Galewood Flats complex. The neighborhood surrounding the complex is peaceful and seems safe. I have walked to and from the train station at night with my wife several times and felt very comfortable. Venturing out further to local businesses and restaurants has also proven to be both convenient and safe. It is about a 30 min drive to the Loop with light traffic. If you drive ~ 10-15 min east or southeast from Galewood you will come across places like Austin and Garfield that I would advise not to stay in for too long, especially at night. But don’t let that deter you from Galewood. If you are new to the city, each neighborhood is its own place and the vibe can change by a matter of 2 blocks.... Read 13 reviews

Current Resident: I have been residing in Edgewater for the last 6 years and I have to admit that this is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. Only 20 minutes away from Downtown and 10 minutes away from the beautiful Evanston, Edgewater is a precious gem next to Lake Michigan. With pride, I express my gratitude to the community of Edgewater which has been striving to support everyone with local donations, especially during and after the pandemic. The warmth of the people contrasts the chilly winds of the lake which are welcome during the hot summer days but sometimes unbearable during winter. Moreover, the local markets bring a welcoming energy to the community which frequently reminds me of the suburban lifestyle. As an adventurous spirit who loves food and coffee, I am very pleased with the variety of cultures in the area that have introduced me to new flavors such as Indian, Jamaican, and African cuisine. Current Resident: East Humboldt Park has a mix of everything I want in a neighborhood. It's a ten minute walk from the heart of Wicker Park where there is shopping and restaurants, and five minutes from the beautiful park where you can enjoy nature, play tennis, run, or picnic. The neighborhood is a mix of old and new so it still has the character of a diverse city with a rich history, but has been recently infused with money which has improved safety and esthetics. Current Resident: I have lived in the Chicago Portage Park neighborhood almost my whole life and I love it. Not only is it a safe neighborhood with friendly people and little to no crime but also a neighborhood with lots of character. There is so much to do here with its huge array of restaurants and local businesses. Plus their is the famous shopping center Six Corners which is the perfect place to get your daily shopping needs done. This neighborhood has an amazing park with a Olympic sized pool along with diving boards and kind life guards. There is also a kiddy pool next door with a slide, water sprinklers and enough swimming area for the little ones. Plus the park has an excellent dog park which is safe and convenient for families who have dogs that need to blow off some steam. Plus the park hosts many sports & camps for kids through the summer months so you can be rest assured that your child will have something fun to do while you’re at work. Current Resident: The Chicago housing market HACKED! Hegewisch is definitely the last affordable neighborhood worth living in within Chicago. I've lived here for three years. Super low property taxes, too! It's clean, quiet and safe. You can own a house with a garage, basement, and yard for less than it costs to rent a two-bedroom apartment in most areas. Current Resident: Having moved from Lincoln Park over a decade ago, I now feel like I can offer an informed review. First thing I notice is dog owners are largely respectful of people property! It’s pretty safe due to fact that people tend to watch out for neighbors who they actually know, unlike Lincoln Park. It tends to be somewhat dirty, so that’s a downside. Bu, the Alderman Reboyas and his team are incredibly responsive, I never once saw the alderman in LP walking around even though I lived there for over 30 years. Current Resident: Based on previous experience of another neighborhood I used to live in, this one is much more tame, quiet, and peaceful. In my part, at least, the neighbors are quiet, and even nice at times. They often do gestures that would be beneficial to their part of the neighborhood. Former Resident: I lived in Logan Square for a year right before COVID started and going into the pandemic. I loved living there as a single, young professional at the time. Logan Square has retained the most of its hipster, more up-and-coming self than the adjacent Bucktown or Wicker Park, which are much more commercialized. As a result, the number of unique restaurants, shops, salons, etc. are hard to beat in Chicago. The blue line runs right through the area so for commuters it is very convenient and unless you are next to it, the sound is not a problem. I recall many young/new families living in the area and the ability to have a house that is nice and manageable is there. The majority of homes are little townhomes/rowhomes, with interspersed apartments and bigger houses. If you know how to live in the city, crime is not bad but it is present. Niche User: The community I live in is great because of the values of family and work. We are all hard workers and we watch out for each other (especially those of us working the 2nd or 3rd shift! ) We have our occasional parties but because we value a strong work ethic, we know when to cut it short. The public transportation is amazing and easily accessible to various CTA routes. My one and only complaint about this neighborhood is the Sanitation. Sometimes our garbage is overflowed and the garbage men come around 2 times a week and never take all the trash! it's always something left behind. Because of this trash pickup issue there is a lot of bugs and rats(yes rats! not mouses) in the neighborhood. Thank God they haven't migrated to my home or else i would move with a quickness.
