Current Resident: San Francisco is a really nice place. There's so much to do with friends, family and by yourself. I have lived here for a good amount of time and still feel like I have more to explore here! Something that is a pretty big problem is the public schools here. SFUSD is very messy and is based on a lottery system (for most of the schools). It is really hard to get into a school of choice because it is not based on neighbors therefore the commute can be long and stressful. I also feel like all the middle schools and public schools on the lottery system (excluding Lowell and S.O.T.A) are very eh and have pretty big drug and violence problems. If you want to send you kid to a good school you probably want to look in to private school which by the way cost around 25k-60k+. It is so much to already live here and then pay for private school so that is something to look out for. Current Resident: Seattle is a beautiful city, with so much to explore and experience! I have met so many neighbors and community members that share my love of gardening and I have swapped knowledge and plants with so many of them. My wife has made friends through her love of cooking and baking and has found a similar community within this interest. We both love all of the resources, parks, and shops in our area. The verity of people here, with so many different backgrounds and experiences, is always expanding our minds and our social cercles. There are some drawbacks to living in this area of course; the traffic, the high cost of rent and living, the high rate of homelessness within the population of Seattle. So far, however, my wife and I have made it through every hardship, much thanks to the support of friends and family. We do the same to help out whenever we are able. Current Resident: I have lived in Torrance my whole entire life, and as, yes, my family is not very financially fortunate, I have been fortunate to live here. I reside by the beach, a ten-minute drive from my house sits a beach that I have taken advantage of, and it was only this summer that I have come to realize just how lucky I am to live here. I love the beach now, I love most of the people, I love the opportunities that it gives me and how connected I am to Los Angeles. Although, there has been an uprise of Homeless people with the new inflation or just because of how close we are to the city. And that is the one thing I would like to see change, we need better protection for these people, so that they have places to go and feel as if they are also people who can have these same opportunities as I and not Gawked at for not being as fortunate as that person.... Niche User: As a college student from a small town, Boulder is a very nice area to be! I enjoy the nightlife, although make sure to stay away from The Hill area if you are not fond of loud sounds and lots of people during the night. Because Boulder is a college town there are lots of students running around doing whatever they want. If you look past that though, Boulder is incredibly beautiful and there are lots of places you can go inside the community to get away from obnoxious people. Current Resident: I’ve only lived in Glendale for about 8 months, and I love it! It’s the perfect spot in between all of my work locations and I’m within a 20 minute driving distance to most places in LA and Hollywood. As a single female, I find Glendale to be a safe location to live. I haven’t felt uncomfortable in any neighborhood I’ve visited within the city. It’s also the perfect transition spot for someone moving to a big city that comes from a rural or suburban area. Current Resident: I have lived here for about 2 years, I’m originally from the Bay Area but moved here from the central coast. Costa Mesa is ok as far as OC towns go, there are walking trails, Newport and Huntington Beaches are a short drive or bike ride away, there is a large shopping mall-South Coast Plaza, nearby. We have everything you need here, without ever needing to leave town. John Wayne airport is 10 minutes away, and a 40 minute drive to LAX. As others have mentioned though, there’s a large homeless population with addiction problems and untreated mental health disorders. It really sad to see, especially when I’m doing late night food deliveries because my rent is so freaking high I can barely pay my bills every month. I see so many people wandering the streets and shouting. You must make $80k a year to just barely cover the cost of living expenses. My 1 bedroom is on a really bad street near the OC fairgrounds. Current Resident: I've lived in Arlington all my life, I went to elementary, middle, and high school here. I love that Arlington is a very safe neighborhood statewide. I've traveled to many other counties and cities in the US, nothing beats it. I'd most likely raise my children in Arlington, VA. Current Resident: I am in love with Santa Clara, it's culturally diverse. Hospitals are close and roads are close to freeways. The stores are walking distance. Santa clara electric system is separate from PG&E, making prices cheaper. Water is included in rent. The areas to rent are pet inclusive allowing for people to be with loved ones and having understanding neighbors. There's always a good location to dine in or to even have drinks. Public school systems have pretty well maintained fields and have alot of opportunities. Real estate is expensive however for living costs. Renting is more affordable. Current Resident: I've lived here my whole life, so I may be a bit biased in my review. I love it here, and I think it's an amazing community filled with amazing people, cute restaurants, shops, etc. My reasoning for removing a star is because of the inability to live here if you aren't rich. My parents bought our house almost 20 years ago, so the market was much better. Over the past couple years, many neighborhoods have been gentrified, as well as the small cute village. Low-income families are being bought out of their houses, where developers are building as many condos as they can fit onto a small space of land. No yards, no cuteness, just plain cramped housing. The city gets most of it's revenue from tourism, so I understand why they've been making these developments, but its just heartbreaking to watch my hometown get turned into an urbanized tourist town.... Current Resident: I've been living in Portland for 3 years and have loved it! Compared to Nevada, there is more diversity, modes of transportation, and community. Finding a job in Portland has always been easy, I hear back from employers quickly. I personally love the diversity when it comes to food. I love the nature as well and frequent Powell Butte! One thing I would say is that there aren't enough sidewalks or streetlights in the neighborhoods which I am not used to. It makes it feel slightly less safe especially if you're walking at night! Current Resident: The city of Sunnyvale is beautiful. I am privileged to live near downtown and have convenience accessible, such as transportation traveling from city to city by train, entertainment districts for adults and children to enjoy themselves, and also has stores ranging from farmer's market to retail. Though the city might sound all great, I worry that this beautiful city is being taken advantage of by some people who leave feces, tents, and piles of trash on the sidewalk. DC is a great place for sightseeing and learning as visitors have access to free museums, great food options, and accessible transportation.
