Neighborhood in Jersey City, NJ
Current Resident: As a retired suburban Mom, who lived in Westchester County, NY and on Lake Norman, NC, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much I love living here ! It is quiet like the suburbs, so it’s a nice break from hectic NYC. It is beautiful, convenient and is ever changing daily. We have new restaurants, walking paths that are waterfront all the way to Weehawken! It’s a great family, retiree and active lifestyle! There’s so much to do here.... Read 3 reviews

Parent: Sidwell has provided my children with an exceptional academic experience emphasizing critical thinking and problem solving, writing and communications, and quantitative reasoning. The workload has been substantial at times, but always enriching and interesting (i.e., rarely if ever busywork) and will fully prepare students for the rigors they'll experience in college and beyond. Moreover, Sidwell has done a great job of developing my children as well informed, highly engaged, and socially conscious citizens. Strongly recommend!... Read 71 reviews

City in New Jersey
Current Resident: I love and hate Jersey City, it is my childhood home, and i love to live here. It is a beautiful city itself, with tremendous amounts of transportation such as lightrail, path train, and buses, not to mention the ferry’s. There are many things to do such as restaurants, ice creams places or deserts of different kinds, public place roller skating which is is also ice skating in the winter, the countless pools, along with the friendly grove street that has walkable streets ( which provides traffic ) with 100s of restaurants and stores. Downsides are the tremendous amounts of traffic caused by the holland tunnel and the random construction that occurs, and the slow shift of gentrification. The inflation in housing is tremendous!!! but nonetheless, i still love my home called jersey city.... Read 312 reviews

Current Resident: Bergen Lafayette is a lot quieter and safer than neighboring Greenville (I used to live there so this is based on personal experience). Everything is also relatively close. The area is also cleaner than certain parts of Greenville. It is also near other areas of Jersey City, like well-known Downtown which is like a mini NYC.... Read 32 reviews

Current Resident: If Jersey City has earned the title of most diverse city in America, then Journal Square is its crown jewel. The area is a mix of some historic charm, new high rises and development, and a lot in between. Although green space is lacking, there are a few pockets in or nearby such as Canco Park, Leonard Gordon Park, and Pershing Field. The access to NYC is amazing: you can reach downtown NYC in about 10 mins, and midtown in about 20 mins. Lot of change happening as part of all the development — hope this will bring more retail, services, and walkability for residents.... Read 19 reviews

Parent: Commonwealth Academy is above and beyond what anyone could possibly imagine for their child. We needed to find a small, specialized school so that our daughter could thrive and succeed. It was a thrill to find such an inclusive atmosphere filled with dedicated administrators and teachers. My daughter has an anxiety disorder and OCD. Every single teacher CARES. The combination of education, creativity and fun that they have created is unmatched. The classrooms are small and kids with every learning difference are treated with respect and patience. Without the chaos and fear of a big school, our daughter got past the nerves that held her back and learned to speak to adults and advocate for herself. She had warm and nurturing advisors who saw her potential and appreciated her strengths - they gave her CONFIDENCE. The education and unparalleled college prep she received from C/A is why she's thriving in college today, and why our younger daughter is now a C/A student.... Read 11 reviews

Junior: North Shore Hebrew Academy has made my high school experience one that I will never forget. There is such great diversity, with students coming from several different communities, and yet there is such a strong sense of unity among us. When I first began high school, I was nervous that it would be difficult both socially and academically, but I was relieved to find myself in a warm and welcoming environment. North Shore offers endless clubs and ways to be a part of this school and I am so glad I was able to involve myself in a series of extracurricular activities, each pertaining to my interests. In addition, I feel that my teachers here at North Shore truly have my best interests at heart and that each of them is dedicated to challenging their students in a productive and intellectual manner. When I complete my high school education, I will feel that I am leaving behind not only a school, but a home.... Read 88 reviews
