If you are ready to retire and just want to fish and read books, then South Fulton, TN is your ideal destination of retirement away from busy city noise. Have you heard about the black panther in Obion County? Keep your eyes peeled for a black panther that recently made headline news in Las Vegas and every other major city in the US. Current Resident: I actually fell in love with this area 3 years ago. It has a beautiful small town charm. I felt safe going into stores in this area because they have security in and outside of the stores. That made me feel safer in my environment. We don’t have to leave the area that we live in because it offers many types of restaurants and retail stores. When it comes to cleanliness, this is one of the cleanest areas that I’ve ever seen in Memphis. Everyone is polite and nonjudgmental. Honestly, with me being a 5’11 African American female that says a lot about this area. I love Snowden School because my son was going through cancer treatments and dealing with ADHD. They’re hands on and helpful when it comes to keeping him focused on his schoolwork. I feel like I have found own piece of heaven on Earth. The only downside is the that the cost of living is higher in this area. That’s to be expected living in a area like this and it’s worth it.... Read 3 reviews

Current Resident: Dayton is a small town where people greet you with a smile, wave on the streets and yield in traffic to let you in front of them. There are many locally-owned businesses that sell antiques, trendy clothing, flowers, farm-fresh fruits and veggies and crafts. We have large fishing tournaments since we are located on the TN River. There is hiking in Pocket Wilderness and other outdoor activities. We have a private Christian college (Bryan College) in town where students are heavily involved in our community. We have an annual Strawberry Festival which brings about 10,000 visitors. We have most denominations of churches in our community. There are plenty of civic organizations as well. We have a Care Center where men and women can come for parenting resources and support. We have a community center that offers year-around sports for youth including travel teams. Current Resident: Most of the people in town know each other or their families. Many generations of families know each other. They work together, live around each other, go to school and sporting events, and church together. Living in a small rural community is nice because you can get to know each other and help each other in times of need. Many community members pulled together to help my mother, grandmother, and me over the summer after a severe car accident. They called to pray and helped send money for food and supplies due to the extended stay out of state for recovery needed. That's not something you see happen everywhere. They helped our family bring supplies to us and also back home while on vacation around where the accident happened. I'm proud to be part of a community that cares for each other and helps one another like that.... Read 11 reviews

Current Resident: Friendly people, pleasant weather and a nice small town feel. There are a number of different neighborhoods ranging from trailer parks to multi-acre estates. There is something for everyone. There is an active senior center, small library and shopping for the necessities. Bigger towns (Kingsport, Johnson City and Bristol) are a short drive should you be looking for more shopping opportunities. Current Resident: Blountville is a small town with much variation. Although its options of engagement may be small, the community within it provides a variety of opportunities. As I have moved within the region in the past couple of years, I have found many opportunities for advancement and growth. For example, I have been looking to engage in observation hours for my desired career in physical therapy. As I have searched for openings, many rehabilitation establishments are not open to prospective students of the career which made me feel very discouraged. However, there have been a few clinics that have been very kind and open to my pursuit of gaining volunteer hours for the advancement of my graduate school application. I have been given many opportunities to formulate connections as I have searched, and I cannot be more thankful for that.
