Collierville is a fast-growing community with houses and jobs popping up left and right. One of the few downsides to living in Collierville, however, is that the housing market is extremely difficult and it is not unheard of to be put on a wait list. Current Resident: Arlington is an excellent place to live if you are into suburban cities. Be careful when looking at the rating system for Arlington schools. We have 2 elementary, 1 middle, and 1 high school period. All are tremendously successful schools. The rating throws in some Memphis schools for some reason. Commute and nightlife are what may land Arlington lower in these rankings, but I'm happy to say that is exactly the reason people choose to live here. Our priorities are in the right place.... Current Resident: Olive Branch is a great area to live in. Me and my son live here with my grandparents. The schools are wonderful. Nights are peaceful. We reside in Windstone neighborhood. Our subdivision has two swimming pools, 2 lakes, and sidewalks. We also have access to a small variety of books for free, but if you take one then you have to leave one. If you were to visit our neighborhood, you would instantly notice how active the community is. I believe that living in an active community such as Windstone in Olive Branch is a great way to raise your family. When I graduate from nursing school, I plan on buying a house in Olive Branch for many reasons. There are several job opportunities for those of different age groups. Some people may differ from my opinions, but if you want to live somewhere that has great schools, is safe, family-friendly, affordable, has diversity, and many opportunities to grow within the community then I would recommend living in Olive Branch!... Current Resident: I love Southaven! There are plenty of schools in the town which provide a lot of opportunities for kids and even alumni. The town is very clean and very safe. There is hardly any crime in the area. When there are problems that happen, it is taken care of quickly. Most of the fun places in Southaven are kid friendly. Though there isn't a lot to do for adults in Southaven, there are still plenty of things to do in the neighboring towns like Memphis and Olive Branch. The town has plenty of restaurants and grocery stores that serve a wide variety of foods. There are a lot of jobs available for teenagers and minimum wage workers. If you are searching for a career-based job, you could easily find some in Memphis. Southaven does not have any bus systems. If you do not drive or have a car, you would need to buy a car or use uber to get to where you want to go. Southaven is a really peaceful and beautiful city. Current Resident: Wonderful peaceful feeling! A place I love to come home too. People are friendly but not in a nosey way. Great biking roads and many ponds/lakes, easy access to interstate and rarely heavy traffic. The landscaping around the homes is gorgeous. I just wish we had a town square with some great restaurants and sidewalks on both sides of street in residential neighborhoods. Also check out the drainage in your yard before you buy a home. Current Resident: As a current senior in high school, I have lived the majority of my life in Atoka. A smaller town, yet abundantly diverse in its population, Atoka is an excellent town to raise a family in. The school systems are some of the best within the county and surrounding area. There is also a fair amount of recreational activities or areas to enjoy despite its relatively small size. The Parks and Recreation program maintains three separate parks within walking distance of almost every home, and there are a variety of town-sponsored events throughout the year, such as a local barbeque festival and competition, a rock the block New Year's evening, and a Christmas tree lighting. There is also a public splash pad, a softball arena area, and multiple soccer fields. As far as safety is concerned, there is a very dedicated police force located within the center of town, and officers are often seen cruising the streets or monitoring local businesses. Works Here: What I really like most about Oakland is the town. It's almost like everyone knows everyone. It's a small town that is in need of a make-over. The traffic can get very combusted. Overall the crime rate is low. The Elementary and Junior high schools are available to students within their school zones. There are so many beautiful homes located on area lots and acres of land out in the country. The people are friendly!! I would like to see more food chains. Current Resident: West Memphis has a great school system. This area is growing. New businesses are emerging that's creating jobs for the locals. They have a local casino for late night adventures. West Memphis has room for growth and with the people helping out and participating in different functions will help. I believe the directions set for West Memphis is going to great. The new mayor and city counsel members have been working on bettering the community. I believe a recreation center would help for the children. This would give them something to do and have a place to go. West Memphis could bring a bowling alley, skating rink, movie theatre, and other recreational activities to help better the community.
