Current Resident: Portage is a great location as there are multiple elementary, middle and high schools nearby and the school systems have very high test scores. There are lots of great neighborhoods to live in and many stores and restaurants. Portage is dubbed "A natural place to live" as there are lots of parks and recreation free to portage residents, even a beach! We have young children and there are a lot of daycares/preschools, gymnastics/sports facilities, play cafes and the public library to keep young ones entertained and busy. I would highly recommend portage for young families. Also located in Portage is Pfizer, Stryker, Zoetis, Summit Polymers and Bronson Hospital/Bronson Childrens Hospital so a lot of places of employment if you're looking to move for a career.... Current Resident: This is a safe and convenient place to live. I am 1/2 between Detroit and Chicago. Crime rate isn't too bad and there are a ton of nice restaurants and shopping nearby. Current Resident: I love living here in Marshall! It is such a cute small town with many local eateries and historical landmarks that are fun for the whole family. It has a strong community that supports its local law enforcment and churchs. It has the longest running fair in the state and was going to be the state capital. There are so many historic buildings, including the famous building the movie "The House with the Clock in its Walls" was based on! We have a quaint downtown and host many seaonsal events, such as the ice, wine and blues festival where so you can find many ice sculptures downtown, girls night out once a month, our annual christmas parade, our Fourth of July wagon, pet, and bike parade, Civil War Ball, Cruise around the fountain, trick or treat costume parade, the darkhorse donut run, the hospitality race, and many more! Current Resident: Mattawan is a small town with not a lot of things to do, but it has all the things that you need in a town. I see Mattawan being better for small families with younger children because of places like the Mattawan park or the ice cream parlors. It has a decent sized public school system with a variety of options and courses depending on the students preferences. It also has multiple job opportunities for those who are looking to make some money. I believe older students have better opportunities in a bigger sized town or just a different area in general because of the limited options for the kids in their later teenage years.... Current Resident: I have lived near Three Rivers for around 14 years now and have just recently moved into the town. Three Rivers has many stores and pharmacies to fit everyone’s needs. Downtown still has its historical appearance, giving a feeling one could appreciate. There are many little shops and restaurants in the downtown area, so support the locals! The only thing I’d change are the “bad” areas of town. I know very town has a bad side. Therefore, we should work together to rebuild! That’s what I’d like to see.
