Current Resident: Palmhurst is my home, I am a resident of this town. The location is very affordable you have a variety of stores and restaurants with in less then two miles. I am impressed how he town is growing into a more urban population. The creation of new stores are making the life of the majority of the residents more affordable since, know there is no need to waste gasoline when wanting to go to a neighbor store. The creation of clothing stores, fast food restaurants, drug stores and even a GYM that opened this year has facilitated the life of the residents of Palmhurst. Current Resident: South Padre Island is a gorgeous little island to live on at a lower cost than other tourist/vacation islands. It is still a bit expensive to live here, especially given the housing market at the moment and the interest of landlords and homeowners to sell or rent to SpaceEx employees. It is pretty bike-friendly here and most of the restaurants are fantastic especially Kelly's Irish Pub. The beach is lovely and a trip here is an all-around good bang for your buck. There are also a few cafes that make some of the best espresso-based drinks you will ever have and have lovely staff members. As a resident, things do get a bit more chaotic during spring break and summer break. Most locals stay off the roads and stay at home. I'd say that the Rio Grand Valley is pretty lucky to have this gem of an island that attracts visitors from all over the nation AND the world. Current Resident: The city of Mission is a safe and quiet town. It is also one of the cheapest places to live in the US, and affordability can be incredibly charming! Our main streets and highways are well-funded and clean, and they are always under some new reconstruction project happening. We also have great shopping districts. However, there is not much in the entertainment department for the younger generations here, and nothing promotes walkability. There are a couple of locations for all to enjoy, such as movie theaters and the occasional skating rink, but I would like to see a more diverse environment with a push for public transportation. Placing more focus on these things could be a great start! Overall, Mission is an amazing place to live for all the things they have to offer, but like any place, improvement is always welcome.... Current Resident: I like that Elsa is close community and that joins together in times of need. It is a small community with near by schools. We are very lucky to have an HEB as well as a Walmart. It is peaceful and welcoming. People from other smaller cities such as Raymondville and La Villa also come to Elsa for their shopping needs. Even though it is considered a small city, it is well equipped with tire shops to pharmacies. Elsa also provides opportunities for small business owners to grow and empower the community. It continue to grows and provide job related opportunities as well for the residents. If you like the city or country living, Elsa provides both areas of choice, while still being able to be a few minutes away from the shopping areas. Elsa is a midpoint location for many other visitors and they enjoy our local and fast food restaurants after a game or an event. Current Resident: I have lived in this small rural town for about 9-10 years and it has been very pleasant to be there. The town consist of two corner stores, one small restaurant, a decent sized park, an elementary, middle, and early college high school, and a detention center next to the elementary (don't worry is it the place is closely monitored 24/7). The community always has something going on for holidays and there are clubs where little kids can participate in sports. Admittedly, I had only attended school there from 3rd to the first semester of 7th grade before I transferred over to Weslaco so I can't say a lot about the education system now. However, when I was there, the public school really seemed to be lagging behind. For being one of the top students there, transferring over gave me a rude awakening on how behind I actually was. That is the only complaint I have with the town but things could have changed since I have last attended school there.... Read 5 reviews
