Nearby Resident: Minneola is a great village to raise a family, it has so much to offer. One great thing about living here is that you’re less than thirty minutes from the ‘Big Apple’. It’s an amazing town that’s very clean and has many great restaurants from all ethnic groups. Additionally, there’s many small job opportunities for the youth that’s looking to work part time. You can expect to never feel unsafe because police are always on alert watching out. The neighbors are very friendly and non violent. Everybody gets along no matter a persons culture or religious belief. However, one con of living here is the expensive price tags on homes and there rent. Works Here: It's a friendly small town with attractive shops - including an exceptionally appealing Thrift Shop with truly affordable prices - some excellent restaurants, a fine library, and a long pier extending out into the Hudson River providing a delightful place for a three-mile - to the end and back - walk, while viewing birds - gulls, herons, eagles and owls, as well as general river activity. Current Resident: Walker’s paradise! So easy to find good places to eat: lots of sushi, Chinese food, diners, etc. Great produce at local market. Needs a new Supermarket but hopefully Stop and Shop will open up in Great Neck. Very convenient to work out at Planet Fitness. LIRR is easy to walk to and the short ride into Manhattan is great for commuters. Current Resident: Walkable community with a great Main Street that is filled with many restaurants, bars and a few shops. Centrally located on Long Island so that you are close to beaches, shopping malls and only a 45 minute train ride to Manhattan. Current Resident: It's gorgeous here. I live in the East End, where it's pretty quiet aside from the birds. There is a lot of traffic in Central during the summer since toursists come here for the beach. Watch out for drivers! Both my parents have been hit in the past couple of years. As long as you're careful and expect other people to be awful drivers, you'll be fine. The West End is the place to go at night-- It's lively and full of bars --although the East End also has its fair share of restaurants. The majority of people that live here are nice and sociable, and the weather is great. It doesn't usually get past 90s in the summer and I've never seen the thermometer drop into the negatives. Current Resident: I find Patchogue to be a good area with lots of water surrounding the town and parks for children to run and play. Main Street has lots of delicious restaurants to try including coffee shops. Current Resident: At the moment, the Mario Cuomo bridge is being constructed right next to my neighborhood. This has decreased property values and is very noisy. However, once the construction is completed the area will be a lot more developed and have a lot more foot traffic so I think this will increase the property values a lot in the future.... Former Resident: It is the greatest place to raise a family, socially connect, worship religiously, community minded, excellent dining, movies, bowling, parks and recreation, near the beach, highways and the LIRR to NYC. Beautiful homes. Good Medical care and hospital, hotels and close to the two major airports. Excellent schools and sports. It also has its own utilities. Now the downside, it's expensive, the homes mostly older requires alot of maintenance and repair, the taxes are very high and despite that, the roads are horrific with potholes and other issues. Regardless, if you can afford it, it's a wonderful town with highly intelligent, well educated and successful people. Current Resident: Just moved to East Meadow this past June 2020 due to military orders. So far we have loved every second of it. I thought leaving our home in Florida would be hard, but the atmosphere has been better than we anticipated! Everyone we have met thus far has been so nice and it's truly an amazing community to surround yourself by! We are very grateful to be able to call East Meadow our home for the next few years. Being from Florida, beach access was very important to us. We love being only 20 minutes away from the gorgeous Jones Beach! Current Resident: Grew up in Jericho and still live here. Top rated school district, the town itself has a rich history. Just a seven-minute drive to the Hicksville train station, a 15-minute drive to the Roosevelt Field Mall, close to Cantiague Park and Eisenhower Park, the Long Island Expressway, the Northern State Parkway, Whole Foods, Starbucks, dry cleaners, 7-Elevens, banks, movie theaters, The Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, The NYCB Music Theater and neighborhood restaurants (including the famous Milleridge Inn). The only downside living in Jericho are the very high property and school taxes, the congested main thoroughfare route 106/107, and the virtually non existent night life in this town.
