Former Resident: Close to everything, all the small shops, and it is a lovely area to walk. Neighborhood feel, with a variety of business. One minus was their roads. A nice community, with great schools, parks, churches, and an amazing library. Had the first green dining district in the nation! Taking steps toward sustainability (open to ideas and advances).... Current Resident: I have lived here for 12 years. People are active and walking, riding, spending time outside. Prior to the pandemic we would have block parties and area food trucks would be in the neighborhood almost monthly. Many have returned multiple times. Young families are staying and supporting the school district. Older residents without children or children out of school have shown support for bonds and other financial measures. There are new homes being built in a dwindling number of vacant lots or derelict homes.... Read 21 reviews

Pros: • Feels like a small town in some ways but all of the amenities of a big city • Beautiful tree lined streets • So many local businesses to support • Lots of cute, local parks • Very close to Forest Park, The Loop, downtown Clayton, Brentwood, etc. • Still very cheap for being in an urban center • Fall and spring are wonderful • Close to rural towns and a lot of hiking trails • Sense of community and the community is very diverse • Not a lot of traffic and street parking is easy to find • Homes are so charming and each has a different style • Food is amazing and many different types of cuisines • U City has its own distinct vibe from the rest of STL • Residents are liberal Cons: • MO is a conservative state and so statewide if you are a minority, you are not protected very much • Winters in MO can be brutal • There is quite a bit of crime that happens in the surrounding areas • Could see it becoming unaffordable soon... Current Resident: Glendale is a small, family-friendly community that is a part of Webster and (majority) Kirkwood schools. Many of the small older homes are getting knocked down to build huge $700k+ four bedroom, three bath homes on these small lots. The community is great, especially if you have kids, but everyone who lives on my street looks the same as me, yet the schools try to push diversity by bussing in kids from the city, while in the long run Kirkwood really should be pushing and helping black and brown families move to the area.... Current Resident: Ladue is a beautiful place to live. It seems like a forest in the middle of St. Louis. I often have deer and owls lounging in my backyard— even though I’m 5 minutes from Clayton and 15 minutes from downtown. Ladue High School is (in my biased opinion) the best public school in St. Louis. The area is safe, quiet at night, and surrounded by many things to do (such as Forest Park, downtown Saint Louis, midtown, WASHU campus, downtown Clayton, and much more) I moved to Ladue from another suburb in Saint Louis, and I could not be more happy with where I live!... Cons: • A little too conservative for my liking • Crime is a little high but much lower than most places in the metro area • Compared to rest of STL, food is not very good • Winters are… Rough (but beautiful sometimes) • Like all of STL, there is racial tension • Starting to get more expensive but much cheaper than most of the country... Current Resident: Living in North Kansas City is every bit of the meaning "home". There is plenty of businesses and entertainment, restaurants, and other things to visit. All the places you would need while living here is within five to twenty minutes of driving. As a young adult, North Kansas City has plenty for me to do that is appropriate for my age. There was much to do when I was younger as well. KC includes plenty of entertainment, restaurants, and things like parks and other recreation. The Tiffany Springs/Boardwalk, Liberty, and Gladstone areas are all close to each other, making it easier to explore and get errands done in a timely manner. I always feel safe here. This compels me to go out more by myself or with others. KC has plenty of job opportunities for people of all ages. There is a great culture here, especially come football season. The Power and Light District is a great way to spend a night out on the town. Whenever I come home from a long day or vacation I am happy it is to KCMO.... Read 34 reviews

Parent: My kids have been attending Basis since before the pandemic, and we are so impressed! Rich academic curriculum, good inclusion of the arts, excellent opportunity for differentiation based on student needs. The teachers are dedicated and so are the parents to the kids' success. While the administration has been bumpy as the school has gotten established (only 5 years old), they earned their stripes during the pandemic. Organized, safety-focused and diligent about communication. We supplement school with sports leagues and scouting outside of school, which many parents do. Easy to do given the extensive choice you have in the DC area. Also appreciate the international study body with impressively bright students from all over the world. A real meritocracy, unlike other private schools that admit based on VIP status or connections/donations. In the next few years, this school will only continue to advance its place in the rankings.... Read 53 reviews

Parent: Barstow will provide your child with a strong academic environment and will customize the educational experience to your child's personal interests and ambitions. There is no other high school in the area that will prepare your child for college as well as Barstow, particularly if they are interested in pursuing a career in STEM. The school focuses on creating strong writers and graduates students who exude confidence and communicate effectively. The community is tight-knit. Teachers are amazing educators and spend extra time getting to know your child. Regardless of your child's extracurricular passions (art, theater, journalism, music, STEM etc), the school will ensure opportunities for students to expand and exhibit their talents. I am a proud parent of two students who have attended Barstow since elementary and are now close to high school graduation. I am grateful for what the school has given them and certain they are well-equipped to achieve their goals after Barstow.... Read 53 reviews
