Current Resident: I absolutely love the location! Everything is nearby as well. If I can't walk to it the drive isn't more than 15 minutes. There's plenty places to visit and things to do, no matter what time of day. Always clean and the people are not only friendly and helpful, but abundantly diverse. I've met so many new friends and haven't had an issue with anyone or anything. The price of living in such a nice area is reasonable. On top of all that, cops are always making their rounds so I feel safer here than the bigger city nearby. I'd recommend this area to anyone of my friends and family.... Read 4 reviews

Current Resident: I’ve lived in many states, first as a military brat, then traveling for a parent’s education, my education, and settling down with family. Lived in 2 neighborhoods in New Orleans prior to moving to Metairie . English Turn (gated community, formerly had stressful HOA situation, seems better now ), followed by the Lakeview neighborhood - which was okay because it had private security. Sadly, New Orleans remains an increasingly hot mess of crime. If dodging predators and potholes and horrible drivers are favorite pastimes, while paying astronomical property taxes, on top of buying security - and waiting hours to report getting slammed by subpar drivers or getting mugged - then move to New Orleans. You’ll be in heaven. If you want a neighborhood where people know their neighbors, watch out for each other and kids, have cameras, take no nonsense, where property taxes are reasonable, and where the sheriff is serious about keeping the peace - that’s Metairie.... Current Resident: I have lived here, all my life, I’ve watched it grow and change. Schools have gotten better. Businesses and job. Opportunities have tripled, politically most people here are fairly conservative. But they are fairly tolerant and most people are pretty open minded. Current Resident: I've been living in Gretna for most of my life. My neighborhood is diverse and relatively quiet. We have quick access to things like grocery stores, parks, shopping centers, and hospitals. I like that Gretna is close to the city. I get to enjoy the perks of the city without actually living there. What I would like to change about Gretna? Current Resident: I grew up in Metairie/Kenner. This place is so beautiful. Imagine how you would live in the house in the city in Metairie/Kenner. When you self care at home after you walk out of the house. You smell the fresh because you did take care of your beautiful home in the safety area. You feel happy that you able to affordable at home. When you get in the car, you drive and see the beautiful art stand on the grass by the road. Pass the road and you drive on the highway. You oversee the water that there is so beautiful color and even sky too. Whenever you enter the store for whatever you. need, the worker will make you appreciate for everything . They deserve you better because you and them do respect each other. Jobs can give you an opportunity. The environment will treat you well when you think of positive every day. Our government is not doing well due to our Governor but it will get better once he is out of office. Former Resident: I love it here. The people are kind and there are tons of local and chain businesses. The pubic schools in Ascension parish are top tier and some of the best in the state. My one complaint is that the city is growing, but the local and state governments don't seem to have a plan. Current Resident: In town St. Gabriel everyone is welcoming with warm arms! The environment is clean, however, there is a lack of fast food locations, but that can be because it is a small town. Although there is a small cafe, Cast Iron Cafe, which has the best-loaded fries you will ever have. In the past few years the public school, East Iberville, has come a long way from the tragic years of constantly losing games. For example, the girls' basketball team won the state championships for the 1-A division. I've really enjoyed my years in this town; I was able to make lifelong friends and memories that will never be forgotten. Current Resident: Chalmette is a great place to raise a family. Very little crime and EMS's are swift to the rescue. The people are friendly and accommodating. Great Mom and Pop restaurants with great food and service. Chalmette host the Annual Louisiana Crawfish Festival. Most importantly, The parish government listens to the people who elected them. The government practical has an open door policy. Not to mention, The best fishing in the country. We have canals, creeks, bridges, levees, piers, docks, bayou's swamps, intercoastal waterways, Gulf of Mexico, inlets, outlets marinas and lakes. We are an island, surrounded by water. We have salt water and fresh fishing available, or better known as brackish water. It has awesome parks for recreation and team sports or just family fun.
