Suburb in New Jersey
Former Resident: Hoboken is a beautiful and exciting city to live in. It gives you all the activities of being in a city without all the chaos of a place like NYC (which is right across the water in just 15 minutes if you want to pop over for any shows or anything). There's an amazing nightlife and restaurants all throughout, easy public transportation, shops, gyms, etc. The parks and piers are beautiful in the spring/summer but there's also a lot to enjoy year-round!... Current Resident: Highland Park is a hidden gem in Central NJ that I kind of hope never gets fully discovered. It is an old town with tree lined streets and historic homes and two enormous parks at either end. It is very walkable and has an urban neighborhood type of feel with the houses somewhat close together and a mix of apartments. The main st (Raritan Ave) is lined with shops, a few awesome local spots but it could use more restaurants - though you can walk 15 min over the bridge to New Brunswick for all kinds of restaurants, nightlife and the train. And the best part about Highland Park is the people! The university being here means your neighbors are literally from all over the world and most are very friendly and welcoming. A very unique and wonderful town. Sshh! Don’t tell the New Yorkers driving up prices in Maplewood and Montclair that it exists!... Read 46 reviews

Current Resident: Secaucus is a beautiful place to live in. The people here can be very friendly. The plaza is a nice place to get what you need, and there are some nice supermarkets nearby as well. Almost everything is within walking distance, so a car isn't necessary to have (although it can be useful). The town is very welcoming and holds many recreational activities for people of all ages and their sports teams are incredible. The curriculum in the Secaucus public schools prepares students with outstanding teachers and opportunities. I could say that Secaucus is truly an amazing town to live in.... Read 51 reviews

Nearby Resident: Minneola is a great village to raise a family, it has so much to offer. One great thing about living here is that you’re less than thirty minutes from the ‘Big Apple’. It’s an amazing town that’s very clean and has many great restaurants from all ethnic groups. Additionally, there’s many small job opportunities for the youth that’s looking to work part time. You can expect to never feel unsafe because police are always on alert watching out. The neighbors are very friendly and non violent. Everybody gets along no matter a persons culture or religious belief. However, one con of living here is the expensive price tags on homes and there rent. It’s going to take more than an High school diploma to cover those bills!... Read 40 reviews

Where everyone knows and says hi to Mayor Richard turner and the council, with friendly hellos from the local police officers. Alot professionals people mixed with college students going to rutgers etc... Its 15 minutes away to Newark Airport... Its a beautiful town... Traffic can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but that is not that bad. I have lived in Brooklyn, Queens, Edison, Metuchen and have access to all amenities but I miss Harrison to be honest. Current Resident: Fort Lee is a phenomenal borough to reside in. Located just outside of New York City and providing access to many other close areas of interest, Fort Lee is busy and always interesting. My favorite aspects of living in Fort Lee are the food and how close-knit and kind the community is. Home to some of my favorite eating establishments, Fort Lee offers amazing cuisine from many different cultures and walks of life. However, I would say that the only negative part of living in this are is the traffic. In the more urban area of Fort Lee that is closer to the George Washington Bridge, residents always seem to be impacted by commuters utilizing our town as a shortcut to their destination of New York.... Current Resident: I absolutely love my home town! Cliffside Park is so small but has everything one could ever need. It has great restaurants, fantastic schools, responsive police and many more things. My favorite event that occurs in my town is during the winter. In the winter there is always a little Christmas festival in which honor students from the high school dress up into characters and take pictures with the kids in the town. The town also lights up every tree in the town center which makes it feel even more magical. Not to mention there is always great hot chocolate and food trucks! It is also super rare to hear that there’s crime going on in town since everyone is very close to one another and we all have each other’s back. Today’s society is very terrifying however living in a small town like Cliffside Park makes it so much better.... Read 45 reviews

Current Resident: A small town of one square mile and a population of just over 20,000. This town boasts popular Korean restaurants and cafes, with plenty of foot-traffic from those of other cities and towns. It is a relatively safe place to live and usually quite uneventful. The parks or schools don't have the most state-of-the-art facilities or appearance, but whatever the town lacks is nearby. With plenty of express buses to NYC and local buses to anywhere else, the public transportation is one of the town's most redeeming qualities. Overall, not a bad place to live.... Read 38 reviews

Current Resident: My overall experience in East Rutherford has been out of this world. I moved here 4 years ago to start a new life as a high school student. Coming from a poor neighborhood East Rutherford was like heaven. I have never seen such a community so caring, friendly, and clean. Neighbors help one another when needed and it's unlike my other town. The school districts provide transportation needs to those who cannot find a ride to school. There are tons of busses willing to pick up your child to get them to school safely. In this clean community, crime rates are extremely low and police keep the town extremely safe. Also, the high school I attend currently has truly shown me the "High School Musical" experience I was searching for. I was involved in many clubs like Student Council, Paw, Girls Helping Girls, Multicultural, Key Club, and many more. With the help from my teachers, I am passing with a 3.7 GPA. I've learned new things I tell all my friends from this amazing town.... Read 29 reviews

Nearby Resident: White Plains is a great city. My favorite part is the amount of diversity and respect held within neighborhoods and people in general. No matter the race, gender, any type of looks, etc, there is no judgement and creates a safe space for everyone to be themselves! Current Resident: It's gorgeous here. I live in the East End, where it's pretty quiet aside from the birds. There is a lot of traffic in Central during the summer since toursists come here for the beach. Watch out for drivers! Both my parents have been hit in the past couple of years. As long as you're careful and expect other people to be awful drivers, you'll be fine. The West End is the place to go at night-- It's lively and full of bars --although the East End also has its fair share of restaurants. The majority of people that live here are nice and sociable, and the weather is great. It doesn't usually get past 90s in the summer and I've never seen the thermometer drop into the negatives. If you're looking for a good mix between a city and a town look no further! NYC is a train ride away if you need to go full city for a weekend.... Read 78 reviews
