Current Resident: This is probably one of the best areas to live in Florida. The city is considered Winter Garden, but the "new" area of winter garden. Excellent schools (all A rated), 10-15 minutes to disney, but NOT in the "touristy" side. The area of Horizon West is master planned and essentially all new construction, developments, restaurants, shops and retail. It is just getting started it seems. Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine is being built, valencia college is planned, sams club, The town center called Hamlin is a great area. A few sweet breweries recently opened (NYBP, new york beer project) and Homestate Brewery. Lots of planned restaurants and a popstroke coming soon. Current Resident: My neighborhood Winter Park Pines is beautiful and so safe. We are surrounded by great neighbors and so much stuff to do. Everything is within a 10 minute drive and very easy to find. Our neighborhood also has an entire athletic park right around the corner including football field, soccer field, baseball and softball fields, swimming pool, a whole gym, and a track area. Former Resident: I grew up in Montverde, I learned to ride my bike in Montverde, I set up my first Lemonade stand in Montverde. Montverde is a small town to the west of Orlando. To me it feels like home, but to someone else it may just be a quaint little town. It is right outside of the business of Clermont and Minneola, but you don't get too much traffic. You can here the announcements of a Montverde Academy baseball game but it won't keep you up. Current Resident: Belle isle is a very well kept town. Construction being done to improve the streets. Great commute time and great homes in the area. It is near the orlando international airport. Safe city and law enforcement is fair and serve the community very well. A lot of supermarkets and gas stations near. Everything is at your disposal and is relatively close. Schools are very good in the area and are also relatively close. School buses and crossing guards are on majors streets like Hoffner ave and Conway ave. Not much of a night life but in orlando they have lots of stuff to do when it comes to night life. There are a lot a good restaurants in the area with very diverse choices. There are really nice parks and recreational things in the city. It’s a great city for family life and it is close to the airport for people who do a lot of traveling. Even if you do not know all of your neighbors, they are always friendly when you walk, run, or bike by. It is also good part of town for taking walks, as there are several nearby trails, and relatively calm streets; there are typically also sidewalks. There is a decent variety of restaurants in the area, such as a Chick-fil-a, Chipotle, and a Checkers, but Fern Park is not the place to go if one desires upscale food. English Estates Elementary school is the primary school in Fern Park, and is centrally located. All in all, Fern Park is a safe, calm part of town that is not as expensive as Maitland proper.
