#6 Best Places to Retire in Wyoming
Lander
Current Resident: Though this small town in Wyoming may easily be looked over as any other forgettable town that isn't on the east or west coast, it is a truly a marvelous place. Nestled near the foothills of the Wind River Range, and Sinks Canyon, residents have as their backyard the greatest limestone rock climbing in the world, hikes, and incredible geological features. The community is strong, hearty, and sticks together. Though you can see the obvious tensions between the generations as our culture becomes more and more politically polarized, but for the most part, Lander is still relatively libertarian/conservative. The health care can most certainly be better, just ask any resident. The education is great here, we have a fantastic liberal arts school with teachers from all around the world, NOLS, a Montessori school, and a fantastic public school. Housing is difficult to come by, and it is a big issue for Lander, since many people want to move to Lander, but cannot find a place to stay.... Read 18 reviews
