#17 Best Places to Retire in Illinois
Geneseo
Current Resident: I like Geneseo because of the sense of community that we have here. It's a town of about 6,500, and most everyone gets along very well. We are very passionate about our music and athletics programs. Our marching band performs in several competitions every year, and always places extremely well. As far as athletics go, there is always a sport that makes it far every year. If the football team isn't doing as well as they usually do, the basketball team, or soccer team is always there to back them up. The academics here are pretty good. The high school teachers take their jobs seriously for the most part, and are fairly helpful when students are in need of assistance at school, or even in their personal lives. One of the only downsides that I see about Geneseo, is the diversity.
Geneseo is a mostly white community, with few other races interspersed.
Because the town is so small, everyone knows everyone, and outsiders are extremely noticeable. This is not very convenient.... Read 19 reviews
