Orion Charter Township
- Suburb of Detroit, MI
- Rating 3.71 out of 5 85 reviews
Current Resident: Orion Township is a nice place to live and raise a family. There are many lakes and outdoor green areas to hike, jog, picnic or just hang out. There is a great dog park to take your dog and acres of wooded county and state parks to explore. If you like an active lifestyle, there is plenty to do--and lots of opportunities for kids to get involved (baseball/softball, soccer, lacrosse, football/cheer, etc.) The schools are very good and the area has gotten a lot of new restaurants, brew pubs and bars in the last five years. There is a local art center and the community really comes together with some great local events every year, such as Dragon on the Lake, Fireworks/July 4 events, Lions Jubilee, etc. The downside is the commute to Detroit (or Southfield, West Bloomfield, etc.) can be long, especially with construction on I-75. Overall, it's a wonderful area--safe, fun and a great sense of community.
