Current Resident: Bozeman is a beautiful place to live and it is truly breath-taking. The mountains are close and it could really take a lifetime to explore all of the trails/natural areas Bozeman has to offer. Skiing is THE main reason to live here, as Bridger Bowl and Big Sky are close and the snow is often great! However, if you are looking for more mental stimulation, creative pursuits, or cultural diversity, you will have to really search for it here. The culture here is very physically oriented and there is definitely pressure to fit in by doing mountain biking, running, skiing, and rock-climbing. Moreover, I think there is only one restaurant in town where I've really enjoyed the food after living here for 2.5 years. There is also a real lack of affordable housing and traffic is often congested. Overall, if you can afford it and you love being physically active outside, this a great place to live!... Current Resident: I really love living in Helena, I have lived here all my life and have built a community of people I love and respect here. I currently work in the downtown area so that has a built-in community of the other businesses and people working there. I think that there are still a lot of issues. A major one is the water supply outside of the city limits. Once you are out of the city limits the people living out there rely on private well organizations that are almost entirely draining the aquifer there are ways to prevent this like pumping water from the water treatment center we have and stopping drilling wells. Another issue is the public education system. The schools, especially the high schools, are severely underfunded. I am a part of the theater department and our theater is falling apart. At the sister school, Helena High, their theater's plumbing is bubbling up and ruining their stage and no one is doing anything. Current Resident: I love my town. Dillon Montana is the epitome of small town life. Everyone is kind to one another, you truly feel safe and comfortable in this town. It is almost impossible to drive down the street and not get a friendly hand wave from a stranger. You cant go get groceries without getting a joyful smile and a, "How is your morning going?" I also love how much there is to do around Dillon. I am a huge outdoors sort of person, and around here there is endless opportunities on things to occupy your time. I would say one of the few things I would change about this town is how bad some of the roads are. The main roads are very nice, but some of the side roads have lots of potholes and rough spots.... Current Resident: One of a kind mining city. The classic buildings here the best are attribute of the place. Best examples in the state of 1870's-1950's archtecture. The oldest old-timers are great too and easy to get along with, but those younger than about 80 are seriously lacking in appreciation. The leadership at the city has a nasty habit of awarding corrupt demolition contracts to members of their family and senselessly ripping down iconic 1880's buildings in the wee hours of the morning. Current Resident: My wife and I love living in Billings! It's one of the few cities in Montana where "regular" people may still be able to afford a home, which we were able to do. We have quite a selection of stores and restaurants close to our neighborhood, and even more throughout the city. There's more to do here than in most cities in MT, though if you're coming from a big city, you'll probably miss some amenities. I came from a very small town in MT, so Billings is quite a change for me. There are ample outdoor recreation opportunities in town and even more close to town. We have always felt safe in our neighborhood and in most places around town. Like most cities in America, Billings does have drugs and crime. Unfortunately, that's really not something you can get away from even in Montana. Again though, if you're coming from a big city, Billings is pretty tame. Current Resident: I am African, been in Glendive for 2 years now. People are very friendly. It was awkward at first since there are almost no other people as me in this community, everything about my family was different including our english accent. But we were welcomed into the community, we did not face direct racism except for a few times.No lots of job opportunities. I love the Makoshika park and nature sorrounding the city.
