Neighborhood in Boston, MA
Current Resident: South Boston is a place where everyone helps each other out. You can build a stronger connect with the neighbor right next to you or even one block away. Commute is very convenient because it close to the red line. In addition, there's a 11 bus that commutes everyday around this neighborhood. As for safety, there's a police station and fire station right around the corner, so the community is protected. There are a lot of food sources and fast-food restaurants; if you don't want to cook at home, you can always go to the Burger King next door to eat.... Read 39 reviews

Current Resident: I have lived in Hingham for 45 years and brought up my two children here. The town is very welcoming and an excellent town to bring up your family. The schools are excellent. Franklin has won the Dalton Award from the Boston Globe for the past three years (Best Division 1 Varsity winning percentage in the state). That being said, the Music program is also top notch across the board as well (Elementary through High School). Academically Franklin boast high marks even when compared to the towns whos cache' is considered higher based on $$ or zip code. People are down to earth, great mix of professional and working class families. Town offers small town feel with big town conveniences (access to train, shopping, etc.).... Read 93 reviews

Alum: The great class of ‘75. We were the last class “de prepped “. We were two years apart and two years combined with Abbot. We met John Mason Kemper and carried on with “Doc” Sizer. We survived “Rinkydink” days and witnessed “Mother Phillips”. After all that, I’m totally jealous of what the students are offered and have available today. It’s awesome! Nearby Resident: Newburyport is a beautiful little coastal town that is home to the U.S. Coast Guards among a lot of history, nice shops and restaurants/bars and beautiful houses from the 1600’s-1700’s up to modern. It has a lot of tourism during the summer season and is a slowly growing community for both elderly and young adults and couples, however, I’d like to see more fitness opportunities and better housing options, more amusement. It can be expensive to live there, but if you can afford it, then go for it. There is a beach by a residential area of Plum Island (which goes by different towns as well). They also have a Commuter Rail Train that goes into Boston.... Read 51 reviews

Current Resident: Jamaica Plain is a wonderful place to live, if you are looking for a place in the city but also somewhat suburban. The people in this neighborhood are very friendly and the ethnic backgrounds of those people are very diverse. If you want to go to downtown Boston, you take the train and be there in less than 30 minutes. If you like to take walks and or ride bikes, you easily find the bike and walking trails along the green street and and stony brook train stations. If you want to hang out and get a bite to eat, centre street has a wide variety of restaurants and if you wanted to go shopping there are stores along the way. Current Resident: I brought now 13 year old daughter to live here in 2009 & we’ve been very happy. She never wants to move! The town is nice, friendly & quiet. We live close to 495 but it’s surprisingly quiet! It’s so convenient to many places, Boston is less than an hour away, NH, 20 minutes by back roads. Really pretty in the autumn especially. Such great history too. I came from a very small(900 or so people) town in NJ so I love the ambience. The schools & faculties are really good. Current Resident: The part of Boylston that I have spent the most time in is a tight-knit, active community that values communication; people are always excited to chat, and happy news is welcomed by everyone. Furthermore, I could access most things I needed on a day-to-day basis on foot. The community is especially welcoming of retirees, and the feeling of safety is always present. The town is becoming more and more ethnically diverse, and the LGBTQ+ community has done a wonderful job of breaking down a lot of the barriers that exist in other, similarly sized villages. The only thing that is missing is close proximity to a supermarket, but there are several of those within a short drive.... Read 8 reviews

Current Resident: Wellfleet has a lot of desirable qualities. The most notable ones are obviously the unspoiled beaches in the federally protected National Seashore and the calm waters on the bayside. But there are also endless miles of hiking trails amongst cedar trees, kettle ponds, wildlife sanctuaries, art galleries and a picture-perfect town center. The food scene in the town center rivals that of Boston. Most tourists pass through this town on route 6 do not know what a hidden gem Wellfleet is, and that is just fine for the rest of us who have discovered this place. Wellfleet is a low-key place where people come to find peace and serenity, though I have spotted celebrities in town on more than one occasion. I just love it here.... Read 2 reviews

Current Resident: Norfolk is a very small town and a very tight knit community. As a teenager preparing to depart for college, I can confidently say that Norfolk was a great place to grow up. The public school system here is phenomenal and has allowed me to cultivate some great memories and benefits. The entire town is very supportive of the children as can be seen at the town sporting events. There has never been any real crime in my time here other than minor incidents. Being a small town there is very little to know night life, meaning that it is a very family friendly environment. There is not much diversity in the town, with a majority of Caucasian families living here. There are not many businesses in the town also other than some small, usually independently owned businesses. In conclusion, I highly recommend the town of Norfolk to any families looking for a wonderful environment for their children.... Read 32 reviews

Current Resident: As a senior in high school (class of 2022), I love Grafton. There are lots of work and internship opportunities given to you at the school, and clubs/athletics are great here too, even outside of school. The community is nice and extremely supportive, but sometimes how some of the parents use Facebook to explain their concerns is concerning and rude. That is the only bad thing that I have encountered in Grafton. The people in Grafton are accepting, including the churches and other religious affiliations. I also love going and supporting all the small businesses that are able to thrive in Grafton. This is because although we are a bigger town in central MA, we don't have many huge businesses that reside here. I also enjoy the amount of hiking, and biking trails that run through Grafton, they are peaceful and they remind me how nice it is to live in Massachusetts.... Read 53 reviews

Current Resident: Boston is great, I reside in the South End and I was born 15-20 minutes away. I also go to college here and there are so many other college students to meet with many different colleges around the area. With the city itself, it may be small but different neighborhoods are renovating and expanding. Especially with Seaport, there are many buildings in that area and different shops to check out if you want to buy something. The food is great too! I usually eat Asian food, so I go to Chinatown, Dorchester, and Quincy a lot and just eat. There are many great sightseeing locations too! I have a camera and like to take pictures. Current Resident: Growing up in Mansfield I’ve enjoyed many of the town’s highlights. A few; catching a concert at the Xfinity Center, spending time at Mansfield’s Crossing Shopping area then grabbing pizza locally and enjoying Flint Farm's variety of uniquely named ice-creams. If willing, try the Green Monster! My younger years, an Annual Fun Night downtown, filled with food games and prizes. Also, a bag full of candy or a dill pickle from the Country Store, a true New England experience! Kids can still enjoy Movies Under the Stars every Wednesday come summertime as I did, take a walk, run or bike the Veterans World War II trail and most definitely, check out a Hornets football game on Friday nights. The Mansfield Varsity Team won, Superbowl Champions 2019! Our towns, small population around 24,000 is a great place to bring up children. Niche User: Littleton has been rated one of the safest towns in Massachusetts. We have a very responsive police force and a very low crime rate. I personally feel very privileged to live in a such a clean area. But if there is one thing that often irks me is that, honestly, you do not need 2+ police vehicles to pull over a car. Unless there's some kind of bust going on, which would seem odd in the area, you do not need two officers at a scene where a grandmother with two children in her back seat might have forgotten to turn on her directional. I'm not trying to criticize our police department but coming from an environment where there actually exists a high crime rate I find it a bit ridiculous.... Read 5 reviews

Current Resident: North Andover, MA is a safe and relatively quiet town. I have lived in North Andover for almost the entirety of my life, it is the only town I can remember living in. I enjoy the beauty of the town in all seasons, the town does a very good job maintaining the common and decorating it for events and holidays. They currently have a Field of Honor made up of 500 American flags, they did a very nice job with it. I also like the local businesses a lot. From restaurants to hair salons, all businesses in the town are so welcoming, clean, and have very good customer service. One thing I'd like to see change in the town is to clear the roads better in the winter. Parent: St. John's Episcopal School focuses on high academic standards but also creates a safe and loving environment for all children. My children have been attending for several years now and has have been attending St. John's since Preschool. They enjoy going to school. The faculty and staff are wonderful, and the leadership makes this school exceptional. St. John's implements technology so learning is actually fun. Students use Chromebooks, enjoy a STEM class, and have a media technology class. At the same time, children also learn traditional values, they still learn to write in cursive and learn their multiplication table. They are taught to love their neighbors through service projects and other community activities. St. John's also has a new playground and a sports field where children can play during recess. This school is truly an Incredible school, and I highly recommend it!... Read 17 reviews
