Current Resident: I absolutely love the location! Everything is nearby as well. If I can't walk to it the drive isn't more than 15 minutes. There's plenty places to visit and things to do, no matter what time of day. Always clean and the people are not only friendly and helpful, but abundantly diverse. I've met so many new friends and haven't had an issue with anyone or anything. The price of living in such a nice area is reasonable. On top of all that, cops are always making their rounds so I feel safer here than the bigger city nearby. I'd recommend this area to anyone of my friends and family.... Read 4 reviews

Current Resident: I moved downtown about 6 months ago and I love it. Almost feels like your on vacation everyday, I guess due to living right by the casino, museum, River walk, the river tours and of course live after 5 is right out the door. I live at the Maritime One Apartments which I consider to be the best kept secret in Baton Rouge. Now I do see a lot of homeless people sleeping on the side walks and walking around. Former Resident: I love it here. The people are kind and there are tons of local and chain businesses. The pubic schools in Ascension parish are top tier and some of the best in the state. My one complaint is that the city is growing, but the local and state governments don't seem to have a plan. Current Resident: I have lived in Destrehan for 22 years, and I have made many lifelong friends from it. Because it is a small town, more meaningful friendships have been able to blossom. One thing I would love to see change in Destrehan is the food and shopping choices. Current Resident: The Perkins Rowe area is in my opinion the most modern and entertaining area in Baton Rouge. There are plenty of fast food places and stores around, but what's even more worth being in this area are the parks and movie theaters. Current Resident: The Garden District is great! I’ve lived here for 30 years. The boundaries on this website are incorrect. The Garden District of Baton Rouge is an established neighborhood consisting of 3 subdivisions—Roselyn’s Terrace, Drehr Place, and the first filing of Kleinert Terrace whose residents banded together 45 years ago to form the District. All three subdivisions are on the National Register of Historic Places. The Garden Disttict of Baton Rouge has been designated as a “Great American Neighborhood” by the American Planning Association. There is an active civic association with frequent social events and off duty police patrols. Crime is low compared to suburban areas and there are 5 blue-ribbon schools within walking distance. Current Resident: It's A Good Place To Grow Up And To Live. It's a long Drive anywhere in traffic around 5:00pm and a few hours to get to many Major National and local attraction's . and you will see the whole place is easy to get around. It's a Circle and the center of the City is Florida boulevard it runs east and west. Airline highway runs north and south. We are loaded with all types of retail outlets. For entertainment we have a wonderful restored downtown. Many Top Night Spots. The Mall of Louisiana, If you have a family Quarters or the Main Event. I personally think the Drury hotel on Essen Ln. Current Resident: St. Rose is a town where you can walk down the street without almost any fear. Yes we have our fair share of crime, but not much. Everyone here for the most part is friendly, and you can tell by just the wave of a hand. The school system here is one of the best in the state for public schools. ACT scores could be higher as an average, but the graduation rate is very up there. You have a well range of businesses in the area. You don't need to go that far to get what you need.... Current Resident: Lakeview is the safest neighborhood in New Orleans. Lakeview is only 15 minutes from the CBD and just minutes away from City Park where you can walk, run, rides bikes, and do many other activities! Lakeview has a local grocery store, lots of small restaurants and small businesses on Harrison Avenue which runs right in the middle of Lakeview. Lakeview is a quiet neighborhood of mostly families or married couples without children. The thing I would like changed about Lakeview are the roads. The roads in the Lakeview neighborhood are full of pot holes and construction signs without the construction workers. It is so sad to see our beautiful neighborhood littered with these pot holes.... Current Resident: I’ve lived in many states, first as a military brat, then traveling for a parent’s education, my education, and settling down with family. Lived in 2 neighborhoods in New Orleans prior to moving to Metairie . English Turn (gated community, formerly had stressful HOA situation, seems better now ), followed by the Lakeview neighborhood - which was okay because it had private security. Sadly, New Orleans remains an increasingly hot mess of crime. If dodging predators and potholes and horrible drivers are favorite pastimes, while paying astronomical property taxes, on top of buying security - and waiting hours to report getting slammed by subpar drivers or getting mugged - then move to New Orleans. You’ll be in heaven. If you want a neighborhood where people know their neighbors, watch out for each other and kids, have cameras, take no nonsense, where property taxes are reasonable, and where the sheriff is serious about keeping the peace - that’s Metairie.... Our government is not doing well due to our Governor but it will get better once he is out of office. Current Resident: I have lived here, all my life, I’ve watched it grow and change. Schools have gotten better. Businesses and job. Opportunities have tripled, politically most people here are fairly conservative. But they are fairly tolerant and most people are pretty open minded. Current Resident: Mandeville is a quiet little town across the lake from New Orleans. It's a smaller city. I have very much enjoyed living in Mandeville. Not many homeless people & it is much cleaner. We live in unincorporated Mandeville. The parish workers are were very helpful when we needed the drain ditcj in front three house scraped out. The phone workers were very helpful in directing me to the proper ppl to get that done. My 9yr old daughter likes her school. I enjoy the weekend gatherings at the local market stage. On the weekends during the day the city has farmer's markets & the evenings they hold concerts. Lots of families attend these events. We have a local restaraunt named Rips on the Lake that we frequent where they know us well & always sem to have our 3 end bar seats ready for us even we come in. The only complaint I can come up with thus far is that the good food spots close early, 8p. I am used to my food spots closing at 10p so it's been an adjustment making sure to eat food early....
