Current Resident: Madison is a jewel in North Alabama! Small town feel with lots of small independently owned restaurants , yet many chain restaurants and more coming in regularly. Small business owners compete well with big box stores here. Great place for raising a family or independent living. Plenty of very nice apartment complexes as well as new homes being built all aroundMadison. You can own acres or just take care of a small plot of land. Choices are many! Food is great and breweries are just as unique. The location of Madison is awesome! One hour from Nashville and right next door to Huntsville, home of the Space and Rocket Center. There are no shortages of jobs here. Part-time work or full-time employment for everyone. There is a wonderful mix of cultures here as well as age groups and Madison caters to us all! You will enjoy four seasons here. A very light winter and if it gets to hot in the summer, you are only a few hours from the Coast. Spend a weekend. Then you will want to move here!... Alum: I would say it was overall a good experience. I was in this school system from K-12. Elementry and Middle school provided good teaching staff, extracurriculars, and resources for women in STEM. The high school experience was illuminating, with classes becoming segregated by class and race. The system was very biast and pushed certain students above those who historically had not attended college.... Read 12 reviews

Current Resident: There are various places in our community that offer activities and family friendly options. Our local library is updated with the newest technology, environment-friendly and offers events to all ages. There are plenty of restaurants located within the city which cover all types of cultures. Growth seems to be continuing onward with the school systems reaching extraordinary numbers. Traffic patterns are in need of work due to the influx of commuters into the city. Traffic lights are not synced with each other creating a back up in the traffic flow. This creates longer wait times on the road causing more dangerous drivers.... Read 49 reviews

Current Resident: Beautiful small college town with mostly kind people. The town is easy to navigate and pet friendly. There’s a very walkable downtown, which is great, and food choices are abundant, although expensive. Prices on everything have skyrocketed so it is stressful to be on school full time with a learning disability, so I really can use any kind of scholarships! It would be great to see more student discounts, and even freebies for students in general, and based on GPA.... Read 250 reviews

Current Resident: Pelham is a small suburb town south of Birmingham, AL. I would like to see more opportunities dmfir diversity within communities and schools. This could be achieved by housing grants and programs that facilitate education scholarships and programs to afford opportunities to students of other races and socioeconomic backgrounds to become Pelham residents and students. Moreover, I would like to more homeschool cooperatives that allow students to work independently as we as attend school half-time. These and other educational initiatives would empower more children of color or ethnicities to realize the quiet living in Pelham and to become assets to schools and the community as a whole.... Current Resident: Fairhope is an amazing little coastal town in south Alabama. Wonderful schools, friendly people and a beautiful town! Downtown if very well kept and always has seasonal flowers on almost every street corner. There are sidewalks throughout most of the town which makes it easy to get out and exercise and enjoy the amazing weather! Fairhope is known for its beauty. But, I must say it is phenomenal during the Christmas season! The entire downtown is decorated. Twinkling trees line the streets. Every year Fairhope has a special tree lighting ceremony for the season! People come from all over to see this! You will even see "southern snow" falling! Although Fairhope is one of the fastest growing places in the southeast, it still has that small-town feeling. Fairhope is a must-see town for all!... Read 78 reviews

One downside is that rent is quite high, even for smaller apartments, but it is well worth the money. The schooling has also been great. Current Resident: I've lived in Harvest for over 18 years. Just like any other city, it has its pros and cons. Some of the shining points are that it's relatively close to entertainment and shopping, it's affordable, and the schools are excellent. Job-wise, most people work in Huntsville or Madison and the commute is pretty good for the most part. However, I personally am not a fan of all of the housing that seemed to have exploded onto the scene over the past few years. The roads cannot handle this much traffic and there are accidents all the time. Once they get the roads figured out, it will be a better situation for everyone.... Read 44 reviews

There are many attractions that are being built in the downtown area that will be great for family gatherings. It’s a place where you can breathe a sigh of relief and not feel overwhelmed by property developers trying to build whatever those ugly high rises in Auburn are. I like the job that Gary Fuller has done for the community. He has improved the town, while still maintaining its charm and beauty. Parent: The Admissions department made the application process seamless. They were easy to reach; gladly returned phone calls and inquiries; and, assisted with the application process during each step. Compared to other independent college prep institutions, RMA is a small school. However, we were thoroughly impressed with the diversity that we saw during the summer camp program; We were pleased to see that it carried over to the academic year. The curriculum is rigorous. The staff is caring. There are a variety of extracurricular activities that are day and boarding inclusive. Parent: We are a new family coming into the school & will most likely have more to say in the future, but our experience w/the admissions & leadership team deserves a review now. We are thrilled & feel like this is a very good fit for us- values, education & community-wise. From the very first moment I heard leadership and staff announce their pronouns, to throughout the many open houses, I feel like we were seen & belong. Both Shamika & Ashaki were phenomenal throughout the admissions process. Their responsiveness, attention to detail, kindness & professionalism were top notch. They both spent time really getting to know us, and contributed to a feeling that no matter what happened, we had a fairest opportunity in the process. Further, to have received an invite right away for my daughter to join a cooking class for new middle schoolers this week blew my mind- we are months away from start & they would be forgiven for taking a break before jumping into welcoming activities! Thank U SSFS!... Read 76 reviews
