Former Resident: Excellent accessibility to every part of town. Many high end and affordable dining options. Schools are far NE and in NEISD which is the best in town. Current Resident: This is such a family friendly neighborhood. You can't beat the schools (Hidden Forest, Bradley, Churchill) and teachers. We have a brand new community center and pool with a basketball court, sand volleyball court, tennis courts, walking path, and exercise equipment. We have several community events around the holidays and otherwise. We have a fun summer swim team that connects many families. Niche User: The Texas Hill Country is a wonderful place to raise a family and with major corporations like USAA right down the highway, there are plenty of opportunities for employment. I would most certainly choose to settle down here with my own family someday. It's very peaceful living out this way and relatively safe. Current Resident: Garden Ridge is a large community with an extremely low crime rate. Most of the residents consist of older veterans and large families that are quite well-off, and many are conservatives. Many of the people are friendly and hospitable. The library is modest with a nice selection of books and community events tend to be large and occasional. A quiet, cozy atmosphere exists throughout, and it is sometimes interrupted by gunshots from the shooting range nearby. Nearby Resident: Lot's of small businesses in this area. The parks within this neighborhood are beautiful. Lot's of different options to choose from when considering a place to go eat at. Schools could use some more attention. There is not much diversity when it comes to the homeowners found in the neighborhood of Windcrest. Lot's of elderly, white people. Neighborhood is very quiet and well maintained. Windcrest does have a prominent tie in with the surrounding community. It is known for their Christmas lights event during the holidays. It partners with small businesses and others to promote the event and communicate with residents of San Antonio. It get's quite lively during those timeframes. While I am not a direct resident with Windcrest, I always refer to living around that area as most people know it's reputation. Niche User: The area we live in is very peaceful neighborhood. Its filled with mostly only older folks, there are rarely any younger kids in my neighborhood. No parties ever happen here. At night the only sound you can hear is the occasional dog barking at deer. We have neighborhood bible studies, or barbecue to meet with everyone. Everyone has a walking buddy. Current Resident: Monte Vista is a wonderful place to live in San Antonio, Texas because it is pretty well cared for by its residents. It is the home of the oldest road in San Antonio, dating back to the 1600's! The houses on the nicer side are old mansions and estates from the early 1900's, with lots of charm and character. Monte Vista is close to downtown San Antonio, so there is lots to do that's not far away. There are huge magnolia trees that are breathtaking to behold when in full bloom, and the loquat trees bear the most delicious little fruits in the spring. It is very green and rains enough to keep it that way, and because there are so many leafy trees everywhere, they sparkle after the rain with drops of dew in the sunlight. There are some streets that look run down or less cultivated, so if construction continues and property is renovated, I'd have no complaints about residence there.... Read 4 reviews

Current Resident: Boerne is a small town located in the heart of Texas. Filled with lots of fun family activities. The fun continues on Main Street! Main street is our town square where families and friends spend time shopping and trying the delicious food and Snow cones on a hot summer day. Most people enjoy the long walks along the duck pond as well as fishing! With Monthly activities as well as the farmers market, with fresh displayed veggies and fruit harvest ripe, delicious and made with great love. Cant forget about market days! Market days are every two weeks starting on a Saturday. This function allows our fellow neighbors to sell their beautiful art work and crafty designs that come to heart and well as small business. Current Resident: We moved here in 2009 after being stationed at Lackland. I did extensive research on safety and schools. We made the long commute to Lackland for work from Cibolo for quality of life and it was the best decision we've ever made. We absolutely love our neighborhood. I got divorced in 2013 and my neighbors, knowing that I was now a single mother, have been wonderful. I love how safe my children and I feel here. The town is growing quickly and traffic is a nightmare on 35 as I work in the city BUT it is by far worth it for the peace of mind and quality of life that Cibolo provides. Lovely parks, plenty of community events, very family friendly. The police are exceptional in this community and do well to keep us all safe. Current Resident: I have been living in Schertz for about 12 years now, and would recommend it for any family living on the Northeast side of San Antonio. It is right in the midst of "the Forum" which is full of local shopping centers and restaurants including; Target, Ross, Bed Bath & Beyond, Chili's, Chipoltle, Chick Fil A, Macoroni Grill, Kohl's, Gamestop, and many others. There, of course, in convenient location an HEB and a few other restaurants. Crime rates are extremely low in this area and there are plenty of schools ranging from daycare, to middle school, even to high schools. Niche User: San Antonio is a huge city. So the rates of crime are going to be different in all the different areas. I'm in the north side of town, and one of the better sides. Although there's some incidences of robberies, it's overall not that bad. There's always police patrolling around, but usually that's just to catch people texting or speeding. Current Resident: I’ve lived in Helotes all my life, meaning I’ve seen the development of the area throughout the years. What used to be dirt roads are now major paths for transport. This is great because the city has maintained its cozy environment but residents have more access to everyday necessities. That being said, these changes came with bad traffic! One of my favorite spots to experience the culture is Old Town Helotes. There’s the cutest little bakeries and antique stores that are great for something fun to do on the weekend. They even opened a small art gallery there! They are also opening more of a variety of restaurants, including Pho An, a Vietnamese restaurant. In terms of the actual safety in my town, the police are always monitoring the neighborhoods which may or may not be a plus in your eyes, but it does make me feel safe and the schools are monitored by police as well.... Current Resident: I love Bulverde! There is so much to do and everywhere I go is so clean and well taken care of! I absolutely love going to float the river with my family and friends. Ever since I moved to Bulverde, I have just been so happy. The only thing I really would like to see changed is I wish there was more places to walk. Current Resident: Canyon Lake is a beautiful and lovely place to live. It IS a town that thrives on the summer and tourism. Many folks that have decided to retire here are in abundance. Because it is rural, it is sometimes difficult to receive the amenities that others have access to. The schools are wonderful! But again, because it is rural, students have long commutes or bus rides. In this county, ROTC is absolutely wonderful and provides direction for young persons deciding career paths. This has wealth and poverty within the lake based on locale. With poverty comes sadness and drugs.
