Current Resident: As you can tell, Perry doesn't have the best school system. With that being said, the schools are safe and class sizes are kept small. Most teachers know the students and their families well. You feel that your child is more than just another student and that level of nurture can greatly impact a young person's life. Many mention the Georgia National Fair as the main attraction to Perry and in many ways that is true. The fairground is constantly hosting events that easily triples the population in a few days. The fairground greatly benefits the local economy. While Perry doesn't have many offerings for regular entertainment, other cities with many more offerings are within a 30 minute drive. Perry's downtown area is progressively growing and offers many new local restaurants and nightlife points of interest as well as being the venue for local festivals and events happening throughout the year. Current Resident: Forsyth also known as Fox City is FANTASTIC! Great restaurants Grits, Jonahs, Sol Tacos and Tequila, Fox City Brewing and they have a Scoops which is the best ice cream and candy store EVER! All on the square and within walking distance. Awesome theater (The Rose), Great shopping …Sage and Sparrow, Girl and a Goat, Cotique, Ocmulgee Outfitters, Old Mill Market all within walking distance. Lots to do on the weekends!! Close community… very safe as Georgia Public Safety Training Center is located here. So there is never a shortage of first responders. Law-enforcement from all over the state, firefighters, EMTs all come here for training. You always see them on the Square and in all the restaurants and it makes Forsyth a very safe town.
