Current Resident: There's plenty to do, and the library is amazing! You can bike, watch kids play sports, go to any of the many grocery stores or restaurants, and the Woodbury 10 Theater is cheap without being trashy. The only downside is that there seems to be a large concentration of cops and other first responders living in Woodbury— great if you have an emergency, not so great if you're a minority.... Current Resident: Mahtomedi is nice and has an active community, but is relatively limited in terms of diversity. It has an extremely good public school system with a highly developed technology and engineering department. The school also has a variety of athletic extracurriculars, but could be improved with more academic extracurriculars. The downtown area is quite small, but the abundance of surrounding suburbs fill what is missing. Additionally, nearby White Bear Lake makes many outdoor activities like swimming and boating very accessible.... Read 22 reviews

Parent: Sidwell has provided my children with an exceptional academic experience emphasizing critical thinking and problem solving, writing and communications, and quantitative reasoning. The workload has been substantial at times, but always enriching and interesting (i.e., rarely if ever busywork) and will fully prepare students for the rigors they'll experience in college and beyond. Moreover, Sidwell has done a great job of developing my children as well informed, highly engaged, and socially conscious citizens. Strongly recommend!... Read 72 reviews

Current Resident: Stillwater Minnesota is a beautiful tourist town right on the St Croix River. If you love swimming and outdoor adventures Stillwater is the place for you. We are known as a boating town almost everyone you run into either has a boat on the river or lives on a lake with a boat. Weekends In downtown Stillwater are always packed with tourists in every bar there is downtown. Stillwater however, is not a diverse town and is in fact a more conservative town. We have a great Public School with extremely successful sports teams and many after-school activities for your students. Overall I would say Stillwater is a strong community town with numerous of outdoor activities. We have a large public school with many resources for students. Current Resident: Stillwater is a unique place to live. Downtown Stillwater has some really fun places to shop and eat. Living right next to the St.Croix makes hiking, fishing, and kayaking an easy thing to do. Both the local schools and charter schools are great. They have really great programs and teachers that help educate children. St. Croix Prep is especially good. The Middle School recently one the Blue Ribbon award for excellence. The high school has lots of rigor and really prepares students for college. The diversity in the area is growing, but it does not mirror what you would find in an urban setting. This is a very family-friendly area. However, in general, the houses are rather expensive and it is difficult for first-time home buyers to live in this area. This is an ideal place to live if you work in St. Paul, Woodbury, or Hudson. Commuting to Minneapolis would take much longer and can be a headache. There is not a lot of public transportation in the area.... Read 17 reviews

Current Resident: I have lived in Oakdale, Minnesota for almost 10 years. It is a great community with a lot to offer such as restaurants and shopping areas. The neighborhoods are peaceful and friendly. Everyone is willing to help one another; I have witnessed neighbors helping with snow-blowing other neighbors driveways for no money at all. My neighbor across the street has also helped my mother with getting her car out of the snow in which it was stuck in. It also isn't hard to find a friend around Oakdale if you are a young kid because the kids are just as welcoming and friendly. I would not trade my experience in Oakdale for anything, I have had a great few years here and plan to stay for many more!... Read 68 reviews

Former Resident: I lived in St Paul Park my whole childhood. Such a great community to raise a family. There was always lots of kids on my street. I loved all my schools. And there’s a good mix of incomes/diversity, so I felt it gave me a great opportunity to meet people unlike myself (in school especially). You can ride your bike around without worrying or ever feeling unsafe. Quiet tree lined streets, lots of parks, and nice neighbors. Close to Cottage Grove which has all the stores, but also not too far from St Paul. Part of the town is right by the Mississippi. There is the refinery close by…but it was never an issue. If I could, I’d raise my own family there. I cant say enough about it just LOVE!!... Read 3 reviews

I love that so much of the town is centered around out door activities. Running, biking, camping, fishing, swimming, etc. All things that many people get to enjoy in the summer. And with a beautiful fall, it's an amazing place to enjoy the warmth of friends and family in the cool autumn air while apple picking, or enjoying a bonfire. Parent: We have 3 children who attend MA - 2 in the Lower School, 1 in the Middle School. We moved them from a local public school in fall of 2020. Things we appreciate: 1. Ability to cater to both my straight A student AND my child who needs extra supports. 2. Teachers who know my kids. I mean truly take time to KNOW them. Our first conferences left me shedding a tear about how much they care about my kids. 3. Smaller class sizes. We all understand the importance of this. 4. I have confidence decisions from administration have been planned, thought out, etc. Even if I don’t agree 100% I do feel like they go through a due process. 5. MA is a Christian school but I don’t feel like religion is being “forced” on my kids. What could use improvement: Increase diversity - staff and student body. There is work around this, but needs to be mentioned!... Read 108 reviews
