Town in Missouri
Nearby Resident: Nevada, MO is a small town in southwest Missouri. It is located about an hour south of Kansas City and an hour north of Joplin, MO. Nevada has a great small-town feel. There are great restaurants available, like Sharky's, Buzz's BBQ and Iguana Azul. There is an all women's college, Cottey College, that is very well rated and offers many activities and programs that are available for the community to be apart of. The schools in Nevada are also very good. All the students go to the same school which is great because it prevents any discrimination based on what school you go based on location or economic status. The town people are all so very friendly and down to earth. I would recommend Nevada as a place to come visit or to make your permanent residence!... Read 35 reviews

Parent: Kirk Day School is not only the place where our children receive education; it is a home away from home. We have 2 children attending KDS, and one alumni. We are heavily involved in the wonderful community of families who have become some of our best friends. Our kids are grounded in their faith, having learned how to be responsible disciples of Christ while receiving a top notch, traditional education. Two of my children have received extra educational services for learning differences...which KDS staff is highly equipped for. The curriculum is solid, the staff is loving, and the leaders are strong. We LOVE KDS!... Read 11 reviews

Parent: Both of our kids started at The New School in ninth grade, after eight years of public school. It was one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. Everything about this school is terrific. The teachers are passionate, inspired, and inspiring. Small, topics-driven, seminar-style classes foster creativity and independent thinking, while the welcoming atmosphere makes everyone feel at home. Our two kids turned out to be very different kinds of learners, but both thrived at The New School. Our youngest graduates next year, and we'll be sad to think of not having that day-to-day connection. Can't say enough about this wonderful school!... Read 26 reviews

Parent: Commonwealth Academy is above and beyond what anyone could possibly imagine for their child. We needed to find a small, specialized school so that our daughter could thrive and succeed. It was a thrill to find such an inclusive atmosphere filled with dedicated administrators and teachers. My daughter has an anxiety disorder and OCD. Every single teacher CARES. The combination of education, creativity and fun that they have created is unmatched. The classrooms are small and kids with every learning difference are treated with respect and patience. Without the chaos and fear of a big school, our daughter got past the nerves that held her back and learned to speak to adults and advocate for herself. She had warm and nurturing advisors who saw her potential and appreciated her strengths - they gave her CONFIDENCE. The education and unparalleled college prep she received from C/A is why she's thriving in college today, and why our younger daughter is now a C/A student.... Read 11 reviews
