Current Resident: I've been living in Granger for a majority of my life, having moved here sometime when I was 7 or 8, but I can't remember it too well. I've not really had any bad experiences while living here - I can't imagine being away from the place I've lived for so long and that I've built such good memories in. I can't say I have much experience in things like the real estate and affordability and things like that - I'm just a high school student, I haven't really had to deal with much of that. But what I lack in that is where I can make up for it in just the fact that I've had so many good times here, whether it was hanging out with my friends, Halloween nights, times at school, I've always enjoyed my hometown.... There are multiple options of schools that you can attend despite the school township you live in. There are 3 libraries near. Current Resident: New Carlisle is a great little historical town with a tight knit community. They have a volunteer fire department that has the best equipment of any small town I have ever seen. There is a beautiful park with gazebo, top choice school, plenty of dining choices including farm to plate, Austrian and Irish cuisine, several pizza choices, industry and big businesses outside of town to the east, a lake outside of town to the west, well kept streets and fabulous Christmas festivities. There are several geocaches in and around town. There are choices for shopping, doctors, optometrists and dentists. One of our big historical houses was even in the movie Prancer! Niche User: This area is a great place to raise kids. There is hardly any crime and what little crime there is, is usually petty. Growing up I never had any problems with strangers, etc because everyone knew each other. People are very happy to help you should you ever need it. The schools are fairly good. The small town atmosphere is generally good. However, having grown up here I can say teenagers tend to get fairy bored. I've seen lots of kids get into negative situations because there simply isn't much to do to keep them busy. Having gone away to college I wish more kids from this area looked to have a bigger future than just growing up, staying here their whole life and becoming a farmer. While I'm not dismissing farming by any means, kids here tend to use that as an excuse for their dropping out of school. People here don't really look outside of the box and they don't like change. There also isn't much in the way of values or morals. One more negative issue plaguing this area is small town politics.... Read 13 reviews
