Current Resident: Orwigsburg is a great town to grow up in and offers its residents to feel tight knit within the community through multiple clubs, churches, and small businesses. The town is quite rural, allowing for feelings of relaxation along with security and peace. A downfall of Orwigsburg is the lack of modern social activities such as going to the mall, movie theater, good chain restaurants, etc. For the people of Orwigsburg, they need to travel about 40 minutes by car to enjoy those modern social activities. I believe making the town more modernized would be beneficial in many ways such as increasing the population size and diversity of the ages of residents. Current Resident: Schuylkill Haven is a small town with tons of potential along with a great atmosphere surrounded by residents that are caring and considerate of others. Business aspect of this area has a great amount of budding potential that can make one business boom! Seeing how this are is a small town it is need of a big business to come in and help people become more culturally diverse in different aspects leading into people understanding each other more as opposed to not caring. If you are new to the town it is hard to adjust to a setting like this but most people are generally caring. Former Resident: I adore growing up with such a small town disposition like Minersville. The nightlife here is spectacular. Check out Lazarchicks Cafe. It’s a great place to have a livacition whenever you feel it and nobody bothers you. The bartenders and staff are super friendly. Crime is very little compared to Pottsville. I do want to travel, but when I settle down, I know I want it to be here in NEPA. This place has given me so much, I want my children to have the same experience as I did. Current Resident: West Penn's neighborhood has very low property crimes and violent crimes. Compared to the rest of Pennsylvania and the country, statistics show West Penn township's crime rate is significantly lower. Although it is good to take proactive steps to reduce one's chance of crime, homeowners and families should not be concerned about crime and safety in this area. In the case of an event, police, ambulance, or firetrucks are on their way immediately. They are located approximately in the middle of West Penn along route 309 for easiest access. With every rare occurrence of a crime, I have seen the police provide the justice needed. Current Resident: Pottsville is a nice town to live in. Great mix of city and country Life. Has some shops and restaurants, antique stores, second hand stores, places of worship, and schools. However there are few recreational things to do especially in the evening hours. The residents are a nice bunch as a whole especially the older population. Unfortunately there is a great deal of drug use across the board in Pottsville. It is home to Yuengling brewery and Schuylkill County courthouse n Prison so it is the county seat. There is Pottsville Area Elementary, Middle, and high school located in town. As well as a few preschools and daycares and parochial schools. Definitely has great architecture especially some of the older larger buildings downtown. Fair pricing on the housing market. Current Resident: Growing up here, I attended West Penn Elementary School which is apart of the Tamaqua Area School District. Every child that attended West Penn appeared to have valuable morals, a healthy home life, good-standing academics, and an outgoing personality. The area has always been flawless, in my opinion. Scenic wise, the area is beautifully staged with trees, mountains, lakes, fields, and waterfalls. It is a blessing to live in an area where people visit on vacation to hike the Appalachian trail and waterfalls, visit the sanctuaries, kayak and fish on the lakes, or even go horseback riding There are multiple farms, farmer markets, fruit stands. Current Resident: I’ve lived in the town of Gordon for two years. It’s a very small but welcoming community. The neighbors are very friendly and there is a local church located down the street. Most of the people who live here or move here end up staying for many years or make this town their forever home. Located not too far from stores and gas stations and has an incredible borough that keeps it very clean. The one thing I would change is the fact that all of your mail goes to the local post office and their hours aren’t the greatest. Most people work during the hours the post office is in operation and they close way to early. Overall Gordon is a great place to live!... Read 2 reviews
