Current Resident: Monroe is a great place to live, there is the old charm of older buildings and homes with the new feel of modern buildings and homes to live. Downtown local charm with a touch of new and modern restaurants to bring in new and old. Monroe has changed over the years but has had great changes with a new mayor bringing life back into the city. I live in the Garden District which mixes old and new. I love living here and cannot wait to see what the city does in coming years with new events being brought to down every month. Current Resident: Sterlington is the epitome of progressive-southern America. This isn't to say the town is far-left or far-right, but a peaceful middle. The diversity is beautiful and growing. When looking for a home I first looked at high schools, which is what drew me to the town in the first place. I decided to start driving to Sterlington on my lunch breaks at work to get a better understanding of the town and it's school zones. The first thing I noticed was the farming, there is so much crop production in such a small area. This led me to see beautiful sunsets across an open field. Now, I get to enjoy the sunrises. The town hall has seen their battles. From dishonorable leaders to crooked corporations the current administration is doing their best to undo all that has been done. The water system has become my only complaint and this is improving. I see a large future ahead of Sterlington but with this will come either expansions of the school district or sacrifices of our farmers.... Read 6 reviews
