Current Resident: I how friendly the town is, and that the community is extremely supportive of students and athletes in the town. I've lived here my entire life but the safety is the town is extremely lacking. There are many drug addicts that walk the streets all throughout the day, even more when the sun sets. This factor drives people away from the beautiful town, especially since it is so small, a population of only 3,000. Also, the school system needs some major help. We have plenty of jobs in our town but because of the lofty high school drop out rate, almost 50%, parents would rather commute to their job instead of moving to the town.... Read 6 reviews

Current Resident: The town of Winthrop adopted a western theme many years ago to attract tourists. The town is tiny, no stoplights. If your idea of fun is shopping then move on. No malls or franchise restaurants. .. just Ma and Pa businesses. If you’re a physically active person then you’ll love it here. In the Winter you can cross country and skate ski, fatbike, ice skate or snow shoe. In the other seasons you can hike, bike, run, fish or float down the rivers. Minimum wage jobs galore but if you want to earn more money you better telecommute, start your own business or be in the trades. No air pollution, safe community.... Read 2 reviews
