Current Resident: Jacksonville is a great town to raise a family in. There are a couple of parks as well as a doggy park. There isn't much of a night life nor is there a lot of options when it comes to food. Best thing to do on a weekend is go bowling or see a movie. It has a small town feel and most people are friendly. There are three colleges in Jacksonville so high school students have options to stay in town and attend college. Many teens hang out at the movies, go roller skating, or out to eat. There are a few bars that cater to a younger crowd, but the night life is nothing like a big city. Along the square there are multiple small business, such as boutiques and a yoga study. Anyone looking to move to Jacksonville, I would recommend doing so. Keep in mind, there isn't any big attractions such as a mall or outlet shopping. The small-town feel is what keeps people coming back after graduating college and starting a family.... Current Resident: My score is actually 4.5 bit 5 stars. Best part is we have all the amenities of Jacksonville, but we aren’t Jacksonville. Springfield 30 minutes, STL 1:30 away. It’s a small town 3,000 ish residents and the police patrol all the time which keeps it pretty chill around these parts. South Jacksonville is all about location. Not much for jobs but plenty of close places to commute.... Read 5 reviews
