Current Resident: E.Stroudsburg is a great town, period. I grew up in one of the best neighborhoods/school systems in the USA of Nissequogue/Smithtown NY border and Strouds could become similar. I only took off one star for not having a train system. Ridiculous that 3rd world countries have better trains and more trains than we do here in the states while ridiculous expensive 2nd class busses (pay over $1000.00 monthly and tickets expire! What a rip off) to go between towns and neighboring cities from Strouds is terrible. NYC/Stroudsburg train (just like the Hamptons and others have) is imperative to raise property values and demographic in East Stroudsburg. Period. Always an excuse NOT to succeed and Monroe County is indeed lazy and depressed economically compared to towns equidistant from Manhattan. The great 2010's foreclosure may come again: thousands of NY residents (or PA residents working in NYC) abandoned their homes/second homes learning there would never be any train to work.... Stroudsburg Area School District is a great school and the teachers are hardworking and always looking to help students. It is close to several ski resorts such as Camelback and Shawnee. Not to mention the great trails near by such as the Appalachian trail or the Delaware Water Gap for those who love outdoor activities. Current Resident: I've been here for about one year, and I have to say it's a pretty quaint little town! Nice country type setting but pretty much everything you need day to day is no more then 5-7 miles away. Not much for "night-life", but you don't come to quiet little towns for that! There's plenty to do in the surrounding 20-25 mile area of the Poconos and Stroudsburg's restaurant district is sufficient for most. Nice, quiet, relatively safe town to raise kids or settle down, but winter snows van be rough up here.... Read 16 reviews

Current Resident: Its a small, cute and quaint town that has a deep rooted history. The people here are nice and so are the thrill hikers you see throughout the town. Deleware Water Gap has a lot to celebrate and they do every year. Its the kind of place that you can go for hour-long hikes one minute then you can grab a pizza in town real quick before going to watch a jazz performance. You can never go on the same adventure over again in the area. Its a great place to watch the seasons pass but its got some downs, for example one road is always out of use.
