Nearby Resident: I go to school in Polson. I have attended both the high school and the middle school. The school system is not a great place to be unless you are highly independent. There is little to do in the town, and almost everything is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday- so more than half of the week. The people you meet will either be very friendly or awful. There are a few good places to eat, but they are often closed. If you're looking for a night out, your only options are the two or three bars fill with drunk old men. There are a few parks, but you have to know which one is right for what you're looking for at the time. Riverside is overcrowded in the summer, Sacajawea is good but small with little beach and very shady, City Docks is always covered in goose droppings, and botcher is right next to the highway,... Current Resident: Great people! We are like a big family here. All of the schools have been rated at a platinum level. We have many clubs and sports teams with great coaches. The town itself has an amazing view and is super cute. The businesses are all locally owned by super friendly people. And everyone knows everyone in this small 1000 people town. Current Resident: I like that small town feel, yet Polson (Walmart, Macdonalds, etc.) is only 12 miles up the road. A major city (Missoula) is 60 miles to the south. Ronan can be crowded in the summer with tourist traffic and that changes substantially from Oct-May. It is a great place for horse lovers. The winter climate is nice since there is rarely high winds and the Flathead Lake tends to moderate the climate (compared to eastern Montana). However winter days are mostly cloudy. I do like that we are on the edge of the time zone and it does not get dark until after 5pm on those short winter days. Summer can be hot and dry (over 100 degrees) and sometimes smoky from local wildfires. Ronan is a great place for gardening with the growing season from late May into late September....
