Current Resident: My experience living in Coxsackie is great. The people are friendly , the schools are good and the amount of job opportunities is good. It’s a cozy small town and you can walk almost anywhere and there is many parades and events to go to. There is also a farmers market on Wednesday down by the river. Niche User: It's a nice, rural community. There's lakes, The scenic Catskill mountains, and the Hudson River. It's beautiful and very down to earth. I would definitely live here again if I had to choose. There aren't many attractions or commercialized activities to participate in with out traveling 30 minutes, but its a beautiful place. Compared to the rest of the country, it is slightly poorer, but there are quite a few well-to-do individuals. I see it becoming slightly less rural, however it might be what the community needs to make it excellent.... Read 3 reviews

Current Resident: Cairo, NY is a small town. It's a very close knit community. We have lots of events around like the Greene County fair, trunk or treat, garlic festival, etc. All the people know one another and everyone is very friendly. We have our own volunteer fire fighters and things of that sort. It's a pretty rural town surrounded by mountains and woods. Growing up here was nice and I've enjoyed the experiences it's given me. Current Resident: I moved to Catskill in 2003, which at the time was a complete culture shock to me, but it enabled me over the years be able to watch Catskill rise from its unfortunate state to a very active tourist town and a Main Street with tons of restaurants and unique niche shops and cafes. Watching Catskill evolve and even being a part of its journey has been fantastic. We have two performing arts centers, one being a theatre and the other a performance hall. We sport several unique antique shops, local artisan ware, art galleries, and local street art such as sculptures and gardens. We are lucky enough now to have several unique eateries, a New York styled dine in, a two story riverside marina styled restaurant, malt beverage distillery, a smoothie and juice cafe along with the usual pizza joints and Chinese food. We also boast a Thai eatery and take away, and a sushi bar. Catskill has really blossomed and it"s a town you shouldn't miss in the summer or fall for sure.... Read 18 reviews

Visitor: So I've come to Hunter a lot over the years. I started coming for skiing when I was I was like 6 or so, but gradually I started coming in summer too. I've been in the town enough to say that it really is a classic american small town. It just sucks that the cities implement so many gun control laws, really takes away a lot from the hunting in the Catskill mountains.... Read 2 reviews
