- Town in Georgia
- Rating 3.53 out of 5 17 reviews
Current Resident: Cairo is a quaint town in Southwest Georgia that hosts many small gatherings throughout the year dedicated to community involvement. There is a rich history in the city and efforts are made to preserve it. The area is recently growing into a town which features local small businesses and restaurants and is currently redesigning a major lake and recreational area in order to build a resort which will bring more opportunities to the area. Cairo is primarily a farming community and there are many low income and poorly educated areas of the city. The members of the community work together in order to create an environment that is welcoming and safe for everyone. There are many back roads to wander down while admiring the towering pine trees and native plants or wildlife. Many summer nights are spent swatting gnats and mosquitos on the porch and hoping to avoid fire ant hills while enjoying fresh watermelon, blueberries, and other abundant local produce.
