Payson Current Resident: Payson, AZ is a lovely small town in centeral Arizona. Nestled in the high desert and part of the Tonto National Forest Payson has a more moderate climate than cities found in the southern part of the state. Temperatures generally range from 80-100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 40-60 in the winter. This town boasts a large retirement community and relies on a services-provided economy, which accounts for the heavy tourist season in the summer. Many people travel from the Valley and from neighboring states just to come stay in one of the largest Ponderosa pine forests on the planet. Payson has a community college, two elementary schools, one middle and one high school, home of the Payson Longhorns. Residents of Payson are very proud to be the home of the world's oldest continued rodeo in the nation, held locally at the Payson fairgrounds. As a longtime resident of Payson I would highly recommend visiting one of our many hotels and taking advantage of the cool pine air! Read 29 Reviews
