Current Resident: Mackinaw City is a small town at the "tip of the mitt". It is surrounded by two of the magnificent Great Lakes, which makes sunsets and sunrises beautiful to see. In summer months, the town is filled with tourists coming to see what Up North has to offer. Once the leaves fall off the trees, it is peacefully quiet as shops and most of the other businesses close for the season. This is a safe community, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.... Current Resident: I have lived in Alanson for my entire life and can say that it is a great place to live. The people here are very nice and easy to get along with. Being in Northern Michigan means it is full of nature/wildlife. In fact, Alanson is located right on the Crooked River. This provides gorgeous scenery and fun times during the summer to go swimming and or boating. The downtown area is small but still nice. Even though Alanson is pretty small, there are still a few good restaurant options, two gas stations, a library, a large playground, and a grocery store. It is also located not far from some other larger towns/cities. The only downside is the school, as it is very small and lacks many opportunities students may find at other schools.... Read 2 reviews
