There are never break-ins, kidnappings, drug busts, or murders in my area. When you're driving, it's very likely you'll see a police car. Current Resident: Overall my experience living in Colorado Springs has been great. There is a large diversity here from all the military bases. Which keeps a great flow of people and culture coming in and out. The culture is more open and caring. There is obviously it's bad spots like any city. The best part I find is all the wonderful parks and trails around with the great fishing spots. There is so much to do outside and they upkeep with parks and trails. Nearby Resident: Manitou Springs is a small but popular town. The town gives access to free clean drinking water, there are seven mineral springs that bring up water for people to drink. I have seen people even bring empty jugs of water to fill up in these springs. The town also has a river along side of it where people can walk right next to the river. Many festivals happen in manitou like the annual coffin race. manitou is also very family friendly, the town has a “penny arcade” with tons of old school arcade games that are mostly just a quarter each to play. There are a lot of ice cream shops and a really good pizza shop called, Hell’s Kitchen, ironically across the street from a shop called, Heaven’s Juice Bar. When the sun goes down, the town is still alive, there are quite a few bars in this town that are oddly enough not really noticeable during the day. Current Resident: We have lived here for a year and a half. We have a small child and the neighborhood is very family friendly. We live in Claremont Ranch and there is no HOA, which is a plus to us. The neighborhood still looks pretty good. There is some theft crime, but that is anywhere you go nowadays. The park nearby is small, but good for our uses. Probably not for older kids. Close to King Soopers and really anything one might need. Good view of Pikes Peak in most of the neighborhood. My only beef is that the houses are too close together. I basically see houses out of every window in my house. However I realize this is common here. I'm from Texas and lived in a small town where the houses are a little more spread out.
