Current Resident: My overall experience with Merritt Island has been great. I moved from Long Island, New York to Merritt Island, Florida around 4 years ago. My parents picked Merritt Island over the other locations in Florida because my family felt more peaceful living in Merritt Island. It reminded us of Long Island a lot which felt a lot more like home. My family loved that Merritt Island was surrounded by a body of water. We felt very calm living here and we loved Merritt Island much better than living at our last destination. The people here are nicer and friendlier which led us to loving this island more. It has a suburban feel to it and includes lots of restaurants and parks. There are many places to go and Cocoa Beach is just a 20 minute drive from me. Current Resident: Indian Harbour Beach FL is a central east coastal town. It lies between the Atlantic Ocean and Indian River. People can relax or picnic in the beachfront parks or stroll through Gleason Park , which has a small lake with spraying water fountain, exercise paths lighted with Victorian lamps. A community center with a pool, which has various classes and activities. As a small town, it has all the necessary shopping (grocery, drug stores, hardware, gas stations, hair & nail salons, barber shop, bicycle shop, car wash, dry cleaners, thrift stores, consignment shops, pet stores, grooming and pet hospitals, restaurants and retail stores). Current Resident: Wear melbourne is a quiet subsection of Melbourne in florida. It has a healthy mix of elderly and young adult population. It’s close to the beaches, while being within only an hour drive of amazing attractions such as Disney World, Sea World, and more. Healthcare is important for anyone, and especially so for the elderly. With multiple hospitals to choose from, west melbourne and Melbourne offer a variety of services and providers to the population. Current Resident: It’s a nice calm place to live where the crime rate is very low. I enjoy living here, the people are pretty nice, and they have some fun activities to do around here. One thing I don’t like about this place is that everything closes so early. There are very few things open after midnight. But one thing I like is how close Cape Canaveral is to Port Canaveral so it makes it very easy to go on cruises which is quite nice. I like how nice the police officers are around here and I like how helpful they are. I like how reliable the bus transportation is and that you can always get an uber. I like how nice and comfortable the public library is. I like how safe the city is. I like all the restaurant options that the city has available. I like how nice the apartments and condos are that are available. I like how the beach is within walking distance. I like that there are so many hotels available in the city. Current Resident: S Patrick shores is part of the county even though mailing address is part of satellite beach. Taxes are lower than city of Satellite and homes are relatively affordable for a quiet beach town. Top rated schools and low crime. Brevard County as a whole needs to work on infrastructure so power and water issues annoying during bad storms. Overall I love it here. All worth it.... Read 15 reviews

Current Resident: Moved to Melbourne FL from CT with my husband and we absolutely love it here. It is a large city but over a large area so people and places are a bit more spread out compared to places like Orlando or Tampa which means less congestion and more greenery. Crime rate is said to be higher because it is a city however crime rate not nearly as high as bigger cities like Orlando and we personally have not seen or had any issues with crime at all and feel very safe! Melbourne has a great beach, a fun downtown area, boutiques & art galleries, its own Melbourne Airport, great restaurants, the best zoo, festivals, mini golf & regular golf courses, a nice mall, movie theaters, high rated colleges, its own theme park called Andretti, Melbourne is also building a new lagoon with water slides/water sports, & we are only 50-60 mins away mins away from Orlando for Disney, theme parks & more nightlife! Current Resident: Port St. John is still a small community, but I think we're growing. Quick & easy commutes to Titusville, Merritt Island, Cocoa, Melbourne, Viera, & Orlando but not a lot to do in actual PSJ. My husband & I have built a quiet little life here with our dog and each enjoy ~20-minute commutes to work. We don't have children yet, so I just put average for the public schools, though that is an assumption. We feel safe here and it seems to be a nice community. We have lived here about 3.5 years now and plan to stay for the foreseeable future. Hopefully we will have more restaurants and other diversions added soon, that's the only real complaint we have, is regarding the lack of things to do close to home.... Read 23 reviews

Current Resident: Titusville is a nice, safe, quiet town on the Indian River Lagoon. It has a good balance of retail and restaurant areas that have been recently upgraded, but also has easy access to central Florida and beaches. The Indian River Lagoon and area lakes afford boating, jet skiing, wake boarding, kayaking, and paddle boarding opportunities. Boat and kayak tours are also available daily and a night time bioluminescent kayak tour is available that is breathtaking. There is no shortage of wildlife in the area, with many nature trails and parks to enjoy. It is very common to see a variety of birds, deer, wild boar, manatee and dolphins. Local government tends to be on the conservative side in relation to economic growth and attracting businesses into the area, sometimes with very short sighted, close minded opinions and outcomes.
