The town itself is small and I love the ability to know a lot of people growing up. We continue to live in the same house I grew up in, it being in the country was great. Martinsburg itself has a country feeling with lots of farmers, and churches. The people in Martinsburg are so friendly and willing to help each other in times of need. I work at the hospital in Altoona. With living here, I have the convenience of living close. The experience with schooling for my daughters has been phenomenal. They are eager to go! As far as getting involved in the community, there’s plenty of activities. The race series through the YMCA is always a plus. Living in Altoona, you’re in between State College and Pittsburg. Current Resident: I really like how it’s a small town and everybody knows everybody. Some of the roads are rough and need redone but the whole town has greta character and an amazing school. I am very lucky to have grown up in such a good town. The school is known for our sports teams and great SAT scores. My graduating class had 114 people in it and i really liked that I knew everybody in my grade and grew valuable relationships that will last a lifetime. The community has festivals and parades for different holidays and events which brings the community closer. There are many small businesses like Bake Shop Bakes, The Brew, and Macs meat Market that supply our town with amazing food and drinks. im so happy i was raised in a small town because it made me the person I am today. It has prepared me for life and college in the best ways possible. I’ve lived in Tyrone for my whole life and I wouldn’t change a thing.
