We put a portable car port to avoid bad weather and sun but received letter from city that we couldn’t have it on our property. Current Resident: Overall a nice suburban town with great nature nearby and Austin and Waco are only about an hour drive away. Harker Heights is very diverse and has relatively good schools with great band, choir, orchestra, and athletic programs. The areas south of I-14 are generally nicer with nice city parks and the Stillhouse Hollow Lake area is beautiful with good fishing and several parks for hiking, kayaking, or mountain biking. The city's taxes are a bit high for the services provided at my place (no sewer service). People are generally very friendly and the area from Harker Heights to Temple is booming currently with a new family entertainment complex, Chuy's, and Black Bear Diner coming to Harker Heights soon. Though, Harker Heights could use more good jobs beyond military and healthcare.... Read 93 reviews

Current Resident: I live and belton, I love living here because it’s a very nice area, with a beautiful lake and eye catching landscape. There is amazing restaurants all over town. The down town area is beautiful architecture and has a museum as well as lots of cute shops and boutiques. There’s a wide variety of places to live. Anyone can find a house within their price range. belton has a wonderful school district with amazing athletic programs and extracurricular activities. This community is so much fun and energetic. There is tons of churches to choose from and always activities going on. There’s an H-E-B and Walmart right next to each other which makes grocery shopping easy. The Friday night football games are enjoyed by everyone one of my favorite parts of Belton is the Chisholm Trail Park. There is pickle ball, sand volleyball, gaga ball basketball and it play ground so there is fun for the whole family. The people in this community are so pure and a joy to live around.... Current Resident: I love the small-town feeling Temple offers while remaining in-between several big cities to satisfy any adventurous cravings. Temple offered a free firework show for the July 4th and it was a breath-taking display. There are plenty of small things to do in Temple and several popular shopping areas. The best part is everything is within 20 minutes of each other and traffic is hardly an issue. There is an abundance of parks around the city and people are always out with their family or pets walking the local trails. One thing that I love is the church prescience in this town. There are many different denominations, and the churches all coordinate together in community outreach like our local food pantry and giving school supplies to children in low-income households. Former Resident: It's a small but quaint town, most ideal for people that are retired or like the village life. It was nice to grow up there, but as a teenager it could get boring sometimes. It would be nice if there were more shops and places to eat downtown, but I know that they are installing sidewalks and improving Main Street. It is very convenient to be right on I-35. Life there is much more expensive to live there, but you do gain security, safety, the quiet, and a good academically competitive school system. I wish the nightlife was more diverse, but if you're over 21 there are a couple bars and occasional live music and concerts either at the brewery or Johnny's.... Read 14 reviews
