Parent: There are so many aspects of Bullis that we love and it is hard to fit them all in one review! We have 3 children at the school who are very different learners, different personalities and different interests. Yet each is thriving at Bullis and the teachers meet each of their needs. We love that school is joyful and fun. Our kids WANT to go to school and have fun learning. They get a great balance of academics, arts, athletics, STEM, etc. It is a nice community of parents and friends who watch out for each other and help each other. Parent: We enrolled our son in Fork Union Military Academy after seeing so many YouTube videos that touted the benefits of the one-subject program and the school. The promise of focus, structure, and accomplishment came through. He passed all his classes in this, his first year, a sophomore at FUMA. We took advantage of their academic success program. There he found continuous support and cheers! They found novel approaches to reach him, took the time to learn about him, and flexed their approaches. I have been concerned in the past about the ability of teachers who are not Black to 'see my son' as an individual. At FUMA, they know him, challenge him to be his best, hold him accountable, and motivate him. I am proud of what he has done this year. As a testament to the place, he is looking forward to going back in the Fall - he's proud that he's earned a promotion in rank and knows he can do even better academically. Amazing.... Parent: The curriculum is strong, with students working above grade level in many subjects. Teachers set high expectations and then help each child achieve those goals in a warm and nurturing environment. Each day students’ folders are filled with the work that they have completed so that parents can be informed of their child’s progress. Any obstacles are handled at early stages and the child is treated with the utmost respect every step of the way. The emphasis on STEAM is helping to prepare students for a successful future. Every member of the staff knows each kid--not only their names, but their individual personalities. Additional benefits of ACE include smaller class sizes, character development, a uniform that minimizes drama in the mornings, responsive staff, and an exceptional facility.
