Current Resident: Wallace, Idaho is a cute, historical mining town. It is within 15 minutes of two ski resorts. It also in the hub for the Path of the Hiawatha, which is one of the best bike rides in the country, following the path of an old railroad line- it travels through multiple tunnels and trail trestles. Current Resident: We bought a home here in February, 2018. So far we really like it. The area is growing like the rest of Boise area and beyond. The traffic is getting worse because of the growth. Like anything there will be growing pains. I am thankful to be here. My neighbors are wonderful too! Niche User: This area is extremely family friendly and includes some of the best people around. There is a small town feel, but many opportunities to meet new people. There may not be a lot to do, but that just keeps you creative. The fact that there one day the cover of the newspaper was a heart breaking story of how a poor birds home was cut down tells you how safe it tends to be. The education may not be the best, but it is always improving and growing. Current Resident: Soda Springs is a small town without a Walmart. A lot of the people that live here are blue collar workers and ranchers. People watch each other's backs and help their neighbors. Current Resident: Rigby is a very nice town to grow up near. I have lived just outside of Rigby for most of my life, attended school from Kindergarten till I graduated from High School, moved away for college, and moved back to build a home and have a family. The area is beautiful, there are all sorts of outdoor recreation opportunities, most people are friendly, and its a great place to raise a family. I would love to see a few more options for indoor family recreation and learning- discovery centers, museums, a recreation center with a pool- as winter indoor recreation is difficult, especially with smaller children. I would also like to see the Rigby Library be opened to members of Jefferson County, as it currently is not. Schools have been good for my nieces and nephews, with Harwood Elementary being the best in our experience. Former Resident: I love that the area is very family friendly. The people that live there are so kind and accepting. The schools are smaller, which gives students an opportunity to participate in many different kinds of activities. I had the opportunity to participate in sports as well as musicals and choir. Current Resident: I have lived in Fruitland Idaho all my life. It is a great small town with a close sense of community. Growing up in a small town means that everybody knows each other. I am grateful to have grown up this way rather than growing up in a big city. I will always cherish the things I did in Fruitland as a child with my family. For example, I remember going to the pumpkin patch together and picking out huge pumpkins to carve. Current Resident: I have been in the Paul area most of my life. I am currently living two miles out of town, but I have been a resident of the city of Paul in the past. This is a small community that is very close knit. I believe they have tried to grow the community and keep the small town vibe at the same time. It is hard to rate it solely for some of the categories, as we are close to other small towns and communities that share some of the same characteristics. Current Resident: I love St. Anthony because it is a small town community. It gives room to grow and have fun. I have lived here my whole life, and I can't imagine living any place bigger than this. The small town element definitely has its pros and cons. Some pros to this are that St. Anthony is small enough that you are friends with everybody. It is home to local and original businesses that I support whenever I can. The cons to this are that since it is a small town, if something happens, within twenty four hours everybody knows. Current Resident: I used to live in a small town that didn't have any entertainment spots and only had two old runs down restaurants. I lived about 15 minutes away from a town called Idaho Falls/Ammon, where there was more to do and more places to eat. Fifteen minutes wasn't too bad of a drive, but sometimes when I'm driving home late from being in town, it seems like a longer ride. I also worked 30 minutes away from home. After moving into Ammon, it was nice to be in a more social and lively environment as well as being closer to work. It made things so much easier for me. At night time though, it can get busy and more reckless drivers come out. The niegborhood I live in does have some issues. Houses have been broken into, someones dog got shot, and trailers have been stoled but the neighbores are very nice and inviting when my family and I first moved in.... Read 63 reviews
